As a south african, these are ant lions and you don't make a hole, you find it just like that, and using a bit of grass scratching near the pit and it will grab the grass

He didn’t make the at home there called ant lions or doodle bug and they make those dips in the ground so when ants fall in them they can’t get out and the ant lions eat them alive
