My wife decided to date the poorest guy in college. No car, no parents, grew up in an orphanage. We went for about 6 months of cheap dates, all I could do, and I just said I can’t pay for stuff and feed myself and put myself through school. She started paying. (She had money). I eventually became a doctor. We’ve been married 41 years.

"When you're dating them, that is the MOST POLITE THEY WILL EVER BE." - that's something to take in, right there...

When he stated: if you dont offer to pay your share, you werent taught right....complete silence
followed up with 'if he doesnt pay, he wasnt taught giggles.
Tells you right there they only heard the second first line gets thrown out because that requires accountability.
Not to mention the play on words: shes only expected to pay her share, he's expected to pay all of it.

I once had a very similar conversation with a female co-worker of mine. I said, "Who should pay on a date?" Immediately she said, "The guy, " I replied with. "Who said? Who said that the guy pays?" She said, "I dunno, that's how it's always been, " I said. "Oh, great! So you'll respect the man, do the dishes, cook, clean, and generally keep the house?" Her response? "Eww wtf no? That's so old-fashioned. And sexist..." I stared at her with a blank face until it finally clicked...
(Edit was to fix grammar mistakes)

I met a smoking hot little brunette in 1983. We were both restaurant employees so pretty much broke. Every outing and excursion was a collaborative effort and there were times we didn’t have money to go out so we stayed in and watched movies on the vcr. But the relationship from the beginning wasn’t “50/50”, it was 100/100. We were both all in. Other than the fact we are no longer broke it’s still like that for us in 2024.

Not a single word will stick. One ear out the other. Hes speaking to a room full of brick walls.

The message is completely lost on them.

These women aren't only thinking the man should pay, but should pay for the most expensive meal probably.

I dated a girl who asked me not to pay for her.
But at that moment she didn't have a job and I didn't want the possibility of going somewhere to depend on her having money to pay for herself.
I had to tell her that directly and ask her not to think that paying for her dinner made her owe me anything. That I just want us both to have a good time.
After that she let me pay for her, but occasionally treated me to something cheap but tasty.

It was the best girl I'd ever met, in every sense

I'm 70. When guys paid for dates, we also ordered for both of us, "The lady will have..." to make sure she didn't order something we couldn't afford. So ladies, if you want to order - pay for what you ordered.

"If the woman is never even trying to contribute, he feels like he's being taken advantage of". That's because he IS being taken advantage of.

Men paying for the date is an outdated concept from a time period when women didn’t have any income.

But these women dont want a mutual loving relationship. They want a free ride through life and then divorce the man first chance they get ruining his life.

A bunch of 2s and 3s going to seminar because they have failed at every relationship they have ever been in and will completely forget or disregard all of the advice they were given the minute they walk out the door.

"If you don't offer to pay your share, you weren't taught right" - crowd quiet

"If he doesn't offer to pay he wasn't taught right" - crowd cheers

Some women will never learn

Trying means A LOT when you're dating. I once dated a girl who I knew didn't have any money to pay for anything in our dates, but she was always on the look for free activities and events in our city that she could invite me to.

The response that “the man should pay” was almost universal. Then the utter silence when they realized they didn’t pay to hear someone just confirm their nonsense and enable their selfish behaviour. I don’t think many were listening after that.
At 61, I’m a little old fashioned, and I always liked to pay for most dates, because that was my choice, but whenever she suggested going 50/50 or offered to take me on a date, or invite me for a home-cooked meal, I always respected and appreciated it.

This reminds me: Dealt with a nurse almost eight years ago who was looking for a 'new man'. I'm doing paperwork and half-listening to this gossip behind me. My PO2 [at the time] suggests a good friend of his and lists his qualities, his qualifications, and the nurse is instantly hooked and wants to see a picture. She sees it and goes 'Ew, no, he's short? No way. Hard pass.'

This struck a nerve with me, as since this nurse is at least over six feet tall and she's dismissing a GEM of a man because he was SHORTER. I chime in IMMEDIATELY with "How fortunate; he probably hates women who look down on him and wouldn't humor you anyway."

Edit: She objected but I told her to not play with hypocrisy and she left. I got scolded, but I know I was right. I support my man and I support men while remaining critical about both. True equality means equal opportunity AND burden. If there was any doubt, this is one lady who is cheering the men on. 👍

Notice when he said if women didnt offer to pay, they weren't taught right. Pin drop silence. Like they were didnt want to accept it. But when he said that men who dont pay weren't taught right, all the women said yes. Just goes to show that women only listen to what they want to hear.
