so i set my internal network to 9000 and when i reach to an external network like wan or 'the internet' it would suffer? and how does it screw up ipv6 where we don't want to have fragmented traffic at all?

The main downside is when your device's 10Gbit interface is also the one used for going online.
My server had jumboframes enabled in the past but I kept running into overhead issues when I wanted to upload something to an external server since the uplink from my router to my modem only has an MTU of 1500 (with no ability to set this higher).

Will swOS ever allow to customize the MTU rate?
Also, if a MikroTik is running swOS, does it have jumbo frames enabled by default? (I can't seem to find definitive answers on this)
my organization is trying to use Jumbo Frames to connect our server hosts to a shared iSCSI storage device for virtual machines.
So we bought a couple of crs309-1g-8s+in router switches and we don't need all of the advanced routing features, just basic L2 switching with jumbo frames.

@MikroTik can you please make CSS610-8P-2S+IN but CRS with routeros? And with 2 PSU high\low voltage. Also need 2.5gbit small switches with poe-in and passive poe-out. Old products were better in sense of powering when there's lack of cables. I bought 5009 and so frustrated that I can't use poe-out without separate PSU.

long time ago there were Intel NICs that supported 14k jumbo frames but I've never seen any other hardware that supports those so they were quite useless at the end of the day

Does it mean that connecting a laptop with MTU 1500 to a network with routers and switches configured MTU 9000 will not give any benefit in IPv4? And same for IPv6?

Because internet does not support high MTU, does it mean that one can benefit from jumbo frames only inside of the intranet and only for the intranet communication?

Question: In case you configure 9000 only in one device, but on mangle rules "clamp to mtu" in both devices, witch is going to be the real through put
