You're seriously the best Linux content creator on YouTube! You truly were my guide this last couple of months while I've made the transition from Windows 10, and I just want to thank you!

Keep up the amazing work!

You’ve inspired me. I don’t use Surf as often as Lynx or Qute or Iridium, but I have a real soft spot for Surf. I haven’t attempted to make it “more usable, ” but now I think I will! Cheers!

Hey DT was an Arch user for about 6 years now, coming from Ubuntu and earlier once from WinXP. But in the last years I found myself very lazy, I had my stuff I used and that was it. Thank to you (and a new Job environment that at least has a little Unix work for me) I completely renewed my daily usage of the computer. Im playing around now, trying to learn new stuff and even migrated my girlfriend to linux. Thats an awesome new life with Distrotube by my side now :)

This is the best overview of configuring surf on YouTube. Very nice!

Hi a quick tip. At 10:00 you can use Surf for that. Its called "Web Inspector"/ "Developer Tools" and you can find it on the manpage of surf. The keybinding to open it is ctrl-shift+o. After it is open you can press ctrl-alt-zero to open the css panel then you can use it like in the other browsers.

Thank you DistroTube!
This ability to use custom stylesheet (which I create myself) is so extremely alleviating and to the point.
My web browser wouldn't let me do that on investment terminal, because of "safe mode" for finance-related web pages.
I had to apply the custom style through browser console script each time I refresh the webpage.

Uncle Fester sure is the best linux youtuber. You should get 1 Million subscribers.

"It uses a lot of vim keybindings" ... Thank you, now I don't know how to quit that thing :/

Cool we started getting into surf at the same time, if you're one of those guys who only visit a few sites you can actually create an index.html file where you can design a nice menu with buttons that can link you to your websites.

As I do love your distro hopping vids, here is a reason why I really like what your putting out lately even more.
I think anyone who watches your channel is a tinkerer to some point. I my self have a severe case of tinkeritis. I'm also in Uni, and those two things dont go together. I very nearly botched a Calculus mid term last year due to discovering i3, no joke.
So my point is, I can just tune into your channel, and bypass most of the nitty gritty documentation details (or lack there of) in configuring new wms, or learning about new tools that would have took me an obnoxious amount of time on random blog sites or stabbing in the dark with Google searches and following links to poorly written guides or docs.

So keep these kinds of videos coming

Have you considered doing a video on qute browser? Minimal like surf, but not too minimal, very customisable and has vim bindings. I absolutely love it at the moment.

Why use "Firefox"? "Surf" already has web inspection tools integrated!

I have used Linux since 2008. I only use mail, web browser, newsgroup reader and games. I wouldn’t have the patience to do everything you do. I used to do that kind of thing in DOS and OS/. Now, I just want the desktop to do its job. I run CentOS 6.10 and MX-Linux MATE.

First of all, thank you for this video. Second of all, (having scrolled approx a half of the comments didn't find a similar comment so 50% it's not a duplicate). NOTE: after patching you should merge the difference into the `config.h` file somehow. Just `patch ...` and then `make install` doesn't work. For example, you may delete the `config.h` RIGHT after patching and THEN `make install`. Sorry, if everybody but me knows this :) (and under YOU I mean a WATCHER not you, DT :) )

Would you make a new video about Surf? Would be nice if you could show how you make it usable with keyboard navigation and lint hintings. Even the Qutebrowser can't mimic even close the glorius Vimium C.

great stuff. since surf is webkit, it should not be "that big deal" to "port" (ofc alot of the ui feature/ui heavy ones will need to change or not work) some of the extensions/add ons used in chrom* and *fox (they use a more or less identical extension system, and some extensions works in both browsers (+vivaldi, icecat etc) without any modification. If i could use, at least some sort of uBlock origin (and uMatrix) i would switch in a second. I already have my own bookmarks system, and what not. the other extensions "i need" are stylus (for custom css) and violent monkey (custom js) and since surf has those two "built in" it is only the add blocking i would miss. "we" really need an alternative to chrome/firefox. There is also gnomes epiphany, which is a free flying cool browser, not sure how well that works on a "non-gnome" system though.

Odd, when I tried the Surf I couldn't log in by google OAuth, now it's working.
I think you can use tab layout in i3wm to have tabs.
