A wonderful movie. Orson Wells' voice was fantastic. It is a fact that Charlotte Bronte worked as a governess. I read her journal and was surprised to discover how difficult the work actually was and how poorly a governess was treated by her employers.

Thank You so much for posting this beautiful movie ! I first read "Jane Eyre" as a very young girl. It turned me into a "Hopeless Romantic" for my entire life. I thought this movie was the epitome of the best rendering of the book. I had no idea that Bernard Herrmann was the music conductor of this movie, I always associate him with Alfred Hitchcock, and lot's of violins going crazy (Psycho). Orson Wells was a Genius. He was a consummate actor, and a brilliant Director. The cinematography in this movie is so beautiful, and atmospheric. If this movie was shot in color it would lose it's "Gothic" feeling. The actors, and actresses in this film are all outstanding, I love Hillary Brooke, as a child I remember her in Abbott and Costello, and Sherlock Holmes movies. I thought she was one of the most beautiful women on screen ! "Citizen Kane" is on my 100 best movie list.Henry Daniel always scared me ! His voice was so sinister.Remember him with Boris Karloff in "The Body Snatchers" ? I could go on forever talking about my love of this movie, the book, the Actors..etc. Thank You for your hard work, and sharing your love, and appreciation for such excellent movies. Cindy 🎥 📚🕯

Just noticed how similar orson wells voice here is to Kelsey Gramer’s from Fraiser. This is the most gothic film I’ve ever seen. Brilliant.

If wife #1 had a life anything like Jane's, It would be no wonder she went crazy.

Hi. Could you tell us the reason why Elizabeth Taylor wasn't included in the credits? I thought you might know the story on that. Thanks.
