“The Lion King” remake brought the beloved 1994 animated classic into 2019 with a mix of CGI animation and live-action filming techniques. We talked to Elliot Newman of MPC Film about creating fur, building environments, and creating characters like Rafiki and Scar, as well as how cast members like Donald Glover, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen got to perform in an incredibly unique set-up.

Thank you to MPC Film. Check more of their work out here:

You can’t not respect all the work they put into this. Technology is phenomenal.

I wasn't a big fan of this movie. But I won't deny the fact that the amount of hard work done by the vfx artists was mindblowing

Fun fact: The only scene that wasn't animated was the first few seconds which was a shot they took when they were on location in Africa

The animation was absolutely amazing in this movie. Even if you hated it, you have to respect the people who worked on it.

I definitely prefer the original animated version, but the amount of work put into the new realistic animation alone will always be breathtaking

I saw this in theaters with a 2 year old in the row behind me narrating the whole movie and when Mufasa died. “DADDYS DEAD, DADDY he then cried for a half hour and when when Simba tried to wake mufasa up after he died. The kid goes “DADDY, WAKE UP DADDY”. Oml he was crying and still narrated the movie

Can we just appreciate how much hard work the animators put into this for everyone? I mean, 70 *million hours.* You can't not respect all the hard work they put into this amazing animation that is *so realistic.*
