New to board climbing? 🥲 Top tips to get into it!

Показать описание
Moving away from the colourful holds at the climbing gym and towards those scary wooden boards can be pretty daunting. Everyone climbing there seems to be a 💪MEGA WAD💪 But don’t worry! There are lots of benefits to board climbing that will help you level up your technique and strength!
Top Tips for Breaking Into Board Climbing:
✅ Choose an approachable board: nothing too steep, with friendly holds. Kilter Boards are great to get started on. Some boards have an adjustable angle, so you can train at 5 degrees, then 10 degrees, all the way up to 50 degrees!
✅ Don’t worry about the grades! Board climbing is a different beast. Be prepared for the grade you’re climbing on the wall to drop significantly when you get on a board. They’re very different styles and grading is really different.
✅Find out if your local board has an interactive screen or uses an app like Stokt. Knowing in advance can help you feel more confident approaching the board for the first time.
✅ Don't forget to BRUSH your holds!
✅ Start off using the big foot holds then practice and perfect a small selection of climbs. These can become part of your warm-up in the future.
✅ Use these climbs to progress and push yourself. For example, for practising on the smaller foot holds or performing different techniques or drills (e.g. twisting vs climbing straight on, flagging vs no flagging).
✅ You can also take these climbs and recreate them on a steeper board as your strength grows!
