I don’t think people understand that they record multiple takes. I pretty sure they didn’t make Chris re-recorded his lines. They just used different takes in the trailers.

it feels late to be doing rerecords ( I know terribly little about actual film production) but it isn't uncommon for trailer editors to use alternate takes in trailers for various reasons. So my completely unfounded conspiracy theory is that the trailer house knew the voice wasn't great and deliberately used worse reads in the early trailers and then starting using gradually better ones so by the time the movie came out people would be like "oh it's not bad actually" this almost certainly not true.

I knew the part used to sound worse. So they're fixing all of his performances as the trailers came out. Kinda fuels my theory that he acted bad in the trailers to be like a Movie Sonic situation, but this time on purpose. So his performance in the movie sounds much better, they drum up attention with the bad voice and then get a good performance in the movie. And I was played like a fiddle.

I honestly didn't hear a problem with the first take. They both sound good. I know the editors of these trailers usually take audio from different scenes of the movie for the promos. That way each commercial is slightly different from others if they wanna use the same sequence.
