India is doing well when it comes to various policy changes related to socioeconomic growth. However India is not sufficiently spending on education. If India has to compete with southeast Asian competitors like Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines India needs much more focus on education, healthcare, and sanitation. Focus on headline gdp growth numbers are dopamine hit for urban elites but development has to be more holistic.

The problem is the lack of real constructive criticism. I believe this one gives constructive criticism, but most of the criticism of India and the current govt is plain lies and political games.

If 90% of the criticism is false and tries to paint a picture for political games, don't be surprised when Indians start rejecting foreign reports altogether.

A good example is anything that CNN says. Nowadays there is awareness of mainstream media and think tanks, and Americans themselves have realised the nonsense from CNN, Fox and Al Jazeera.

So when Indians reject it, don't act high and mighty and act like you are the only one giving constructive criticism. Get off your high horse.

In fact, BJP themselves are the biggest critic of India. This is exactly why they brought Swachh Bharat, Jan Dhan, Nal se jal, LPG for rural women etc. Do you think they would bring any of these massively successful social programs if they thought everything was rosy?

India has the more poor than the whole countries of sub-Saharan Africa. Currently, almost 1/3rd of India is poor. India will not overtake China in another 100-plus years.
