Lightning Strikes Again | Seiko 5 Field GMT

Seiko follows up the Seiko 5 sports diver style GMT from last year with a field version of the same recipe. It's very good, but is it better than last year's SSK001 ?

I got mine about two weeks ago ( Stainless steel, black dial). I love this watch. The bracelet is surprisingly good. I did replace the clasp for a premium one. I have the same complaints as the review, but I got it for just over 300.00. For what I paid, I am very happy with it. It's a looker.👍🏼

This Field GMT needs a nickname. It's so good. The SKX GMT is great looking, but inherited all the things about the SKX that kept me from loving it both in photos and on my wrist all day. Field MGT prices are already dropping towards $300 online, and in that range it's a killer choice. I think I'm going to be recommending this to a lot of people

If the hour markers were lume blocks it’d be a complete game changer! We need more watches with lume blocks

Oh man, I'm obsessed with this watch in the stainless steel version. This will be my first Seiko. I'm just waiting for the hype and price to drop. I can even forgive Seiko for not adding sapphire in this price range. It's just such a great watch to look at it.

Had the SSK023 version for a few weeks now, replaced the bracelet for black leather, big improvement, have ordered theSSK 027 / SBSC009 version white dial from Japan. Will be fitting saphire crystal to both.

I really want the white dial they released in Japan!

For it's size I wish they had made the lug to lug shorter because I love the dial and how they blacked out the stem on the GMT hand.

Also, if we're talking about true NATO strap designs, they typically employ one piece buckles.

The "premium" buckles on more expensive signature NATOs are often larger and use spring bars.

Love this field dial…I have the SRPG39 and absolutely love it! The fourth hand knocks this design out of the park! And killer GMT hand, right?!

From the media photos I preferred this black pvd version, but after seeing them in my AD, I definitely prefer the steel version on the bracelet. Anyway it's a great watch for the money. One of those situations where Seiko still delivers great value for money.

Liked how you built up the narrative to that plug for the zero-pass. 😉

The buckle of NATO straps isn’t a “spring bar”, it’s solid. And with the prong of the buckle, and the surrounding strap material, the buckle is stronger and less likely to fail than a spring bar, which has more direct pressure applied to it at all times, given the angle of wear.

So, you can try to *justify* your strap, but it’s still more likely to fail than a NATO…..

I bought the full SS version, got it for around $260USD from an AD here in Australia. Such a cool watch! Only thing I might change is popping a Namoki slim display case back to slim it down

First of all, I love Watch Crunch’s app. The community has been super solid. I think the Seiko Field is fantastic. Definitely looking to pick one up this year.

I got the field watch version as a gift. I got a rubber band so the watch sits right on my wrist with no strap underneath. It makes the watch not stick up so much.

I've seen watches with screw down crown fill up with water more often than watch without it because the owner didn't screw down the crown tight enough or didn't know or got lazy about the screw down feature. Love your channel.

I love this watch. I have the steel version on a black leather strap with white stitching. It is my new everyday watch. Unfortunately, after a month I already have a little scratch in the Crystal. It's such a shame that Seiko didn't use a sapphire crystal. The only negative point for me. Such a great watch.

Nice review, I’m with you the field GMT would be my choice between these 2. At $400 the question now becomes do you pickup a very good used GMT at around the same price? 😊

Just picked one up second hand for $215! Excited to add it into the collection 😁

I can’t decide which one to buy! I’d probably get that blacked out version as well, and put it on a black silicone strap. I recently got the newer silver with gold bezel two tone dive gmt version, and can’t take it off. It looks classy as heck on the wrist somehow. It’s my first visibly two tone watch and it just works. I have a titanium grand seiko with a black dial and gold hands and markers, and thought it looks really nice, so I’d give the two tone diver gmt a try, and it’s grabbed me. I never dreamed I’d like it as much as I do, and it would look as nice as it does in person. Great video!
