A lot of destinations more or less require you to get a rental car at the airport when you visit. The good news is that Washington DC is not one of them!

Definitely NO! I used to work for DoD, visited DC more than a few times. So when my wife and I visited 2 years ago we flew in National Airport with just carry-ons, bought weekly passes for the Metro and used it to go everywhere. Rented an AirBnB near one of the Metro stations and used our own 2 feet to go everywhere.

You save money and headaches by not renting a car.

I've been driving in D.C. for 50 years. I do well, but it can sometimes be challenging, depending on what's going on. One impediment is the non-local drivers who have little or no experience here. It can be tricky. Driving in Manhattan has been easier for me.

The metro and your 2 feet will get you to wherever you need or want to go in DC. The key is finding a hotel or BnB near a metro stop. That is the move.

As long as you're staying in DC proper. You'll need one if you try to roam around Northern Virginia.

If I have a toddler and no car seat, how can I get around? Thanks 🙏🏻

Not only is the traffic very aggressive, the streets and exits can be extremely confusing but the parking is a nightmare🚗🚓🛵🚓
