Inspirational video, as always 😊. I built a pair of Light Bicycle 65mm with blind nipple holes. A bit tedious, but easy enough using the screw/ magnet trick. Ran conti 5000s for 7000km, initially with no sealant. Ease of mounting and seal were great. Loved riding them. My 240 rear was quite loud. Finally a car cut across my path, collision at 40kph. Then the car (4wd) drove over the front wheel, forks and frame. Rim is scratched. Bearings not spinning freely. Still true. Trip to hospital, still recovering. Driver charged. Might put that rim on the back of my downhill bike to see if there's any way to kill it. Replacements will be red, with Captain Scarlet logos.

I have LB 56mm deep, 30mm external, 23mm internal.
Overall, it's the most capable wheel on rough road i've got so far.
Conti GP5000, 25c front pump up significantly narrower than the rim for optimal aero, and 28c is about .5mm wider than the rim but whatever.

Problem with narrow internal rim width with big tire+low pressure is that it tends to feel squishy in hard corner as the tire got push side way.
Wide internal rim width being more stable platform for the tire, it enables me to lower the pressure of both wheels down to 65psi for extra comfort and still feel sharp in hard corner.
External rim width also allow 25-28c (inflated to 28-31mm) to be used without ruining aerodynamic of the carbon wheels.

Just purchased a 46deep/28wide pair from Light Bicycles for my road bike after watching your videos (and after my skinny Mavics got destroyed recently). Let's see how compliant they are on the roads of Hong Kong!

Agreed on the hub... The Industry Nine hubs are loud and although I’ve gotten used to it, it’s annoying. Very informative video. Thank you.

Way late to the discussion... wondering how your wheels have held up over the years. Also, any thoughts about the gloss versus a matte finish? Did you get a lot of scratches, problems with the Finish? Thanks!

Gp5000 TL are a game changed, on two sets of different wheels I have they will inflate with a track pump and no sealant

Can you make a video talking about rim size vs tire size and what width works best together.

I suspect quick hub engagement helps mitigate cassette bite on the freehub body. Maybe?

Curious...I can't find part 2 of this series...has it been pulled?

Hi Peak Torque - the million pound question: if you were buying one wheel would you go for LB or Winspace now? Noticed LB have a new wheel AR465.

This is interesting because I bought a pair of seemingly great chinese rims from Acebike. I had my local shop build them up nice and stiff and they rode great, except for one main caveat, they had spoke rub. While riding they would sing a little tune. I lessened the tension which helped only a bit. My mechanic suggested using little nipple beds to to stabilize the area. Although greasing up the area is an interesting solution as well.

As far as I am aware through axles apply more to the front wheel because it is not braced, which means the two forks can twist under heavy braking which you don’t get with rim brakes, the through axle will help transfer some of the load to the right-hand side fork. Well that is my belief anyway.

Ive built a set up with mtb straight pull powerway with pilar spokes on 38x25 24h front and back. 82kgs no issues not tensioning after 10000 ks. I went for thru axles as my frame is for thru axles. I find the alignment better with thru axles. Total weight 150

Hope or Dt swiss hubs what would be your preference fella both for price and longevity. yeh the jury is still out on Disc brakes, greater modulation granted but when the wheels flex there's no end of rubbing on my wheels.

Thanks! I have the same bike and have been contemplating those wheels.

Road tubeless rocks! 6500km with 0 flats using Schwalbe Pro One. With that i'm ok with dealing with the mess from time to time...

Finally! Someone else says that thru axles have no effect on stiffness. Skewers and thru axles are there to provide clamping force and prevent hub moving. The hub provides stiffness. That's it.

I got Light Bicycle CX46 rims 28 spokes laced on I9 road hubs for about 1000 UD$ and they were amazing since the start.
