If I've learned anything about what this pandemic has done to the world, the United States needs to start producing its own goods again. If it were me, I'd put a minimum amount of goods made within the country for any businesses that have publicly traded stocks. I'd cite it on the grounds of being essential for national security, and the welfare of its citizens.

I think it will be a time of hardship for the US and many countries but it will help them in many ways. US Europe lost their manufacturing engines and its wealth generation to China. That will be reversed. US has finally adopted the right strategy. To supply equipment and make their allies stronger but preferably not get involved in wars directly. Depending on how long the Russian war continues and what happens with Taiwan as well as Chinas recession will depress the market and economy. I don’t see a major collapse and destitution for western citizens. We will take some pain for the next 2-5 years. But in the long term this is the very best thing that could have happened for most countries- except Russia and later China.
