With the fires in Canada, it would’ve been interesting to cover moratoriums on the purchase of coverage when the fire is racing toward your house. Most insurance companies will let you fill out the contract with a pen, and take your check, but the coverage won’t kick in to protect you for a number of days or whatever delayed amount of time the insurance company sets.
