The Wow! Signal: In 1977, a strong, narrowband radio signal was received from space by Ohio State University's Big Ear radio telescope. The signal was so unusual that astronomer Jerry R. Ehman circled it on the printout and wrote "Wow!" next to it. Its source remains unidentified and continues to intrigue scientists.
