I picked up an IBM Aptiva 2196-30A the other day. It has an AMD K6-2 533 installed, so once I get the PSU working again, I am going to have to give this a go!

If only I knew about this back in 2001 when I had a similar machine haha

My first machine was a pentium 3 vertical mounted. That machine cost me over a thousand dollars back in the day. I remember I had originally a 14.4, than a 28.8, than finally a 56k modem with its own dedicated line. the machine I built after that was the first K6. After that point I never went back to intel. Even today. I have had every single top tier AMD CPU on the market. I can't wait for RYSEN.

Didn't realize the program doesn't like QEMM or EMM386 when trying to run the setk6d command in DOS, and the k6wcx command doesn't output anything unless the EMM386 is not running or not loaded. Some of my games require Expanded/Extended memory in order for them to run due to speech and music, which is rather unfortunate.

FYI to others, this needs to be done in DOS and can't be activated while in Windows. I'm not sure if you can set this before loading Windows, but it didn't work for me. I noticed that the MTRRs were enabled in Windows, but I don't think they are used correctly.
