BharatShakti has been organising this event annually, comprising policymakers, military leadership, professionals, foreign defence attaches, domestic defence equipment manufacturers, and foreign OEMs. The conceptual premise of the conclave recognizes that in an era of globalization and in an increasingly violent world, peace and stability necessitate nations coming together to fight common
threats that transcend national boundaries. The way forward is a collective endeavour to contain emerging threats using synergized hard and soft power.

India's growing defence industry can provide the firepower to friendly foreign countries in the region to build their forces and assist them in better meeting the security challenges they face. The Indian private sector is also increasingly integrated into defence manufacturing as a critical stakeholder under the Atmanirbharata (self-reliance) concept.

Bharatshakti has been organising this conclave as an annual marquee event – The Foreign Defence Attachés Conclave - since 2015, a unique precedent started in association with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Now, with India’s role increasing in the region, it was imperative to enhance the scope of the conclave. The conference was therefore renamed and re-fashioned as "India Defence Conclave" in 2021.
