Why So Much Persecution?

Jesus promised that if we follow in his foot-steps we will be persecuted... hated... reviled. But this is not what we see amongst those who profess Christianity today (at least in the west). And so when a Christian or group of Christians are persecuted, people (including those who profess to be Christians) say it's because they must be doing something bad to warrant that persecution. But no one stops to think that maybe... just maybe, the persecution they receive is precisely because they're doing something GOOD i.e. putting into practice what Jesus taught, which is convicting for the lukewarm masses.

If the early quakers were judged and imprisoned for simply refusing to remove their hats, I would agree that this punishment is out of proportion to the act that brought it on.

If disproportionate punishment is clear evidence for the rightness of the act that brought it on, how should we compare this rightness, to the bible's description of eternal punishment for a lifetime of sin?

No matter which way I look at it, I just can't seem to get past this one.

True persecution comes when you tell someone the truth that he or she don't want to hear specifically if you quote the words of Jesus in Mathew 6:24-31 and Luke 14:33.People love something that doesn't challenge they lifestyle they become offended the Jesus they are serving is not the real Jesus
