Cool video Keywan. Similar to London but we also have buses with handles to change manually.

It's cool seeing that and I already knew that and im not a bus driver but still pretty cool but also there might be different ways to change it but the state I'm in it's a overhead box

It wasn't that long ago where there were knobs to turn up there, where the bus operator would scroll through the route numbers and destinations, then stop at the right selection. This was well before the high tech/GPS type things now.

In my city we change the destination sign through either the eric destination controller but the main way they want us to change the destination is through the Farebox

In NYC, we log in the farebox and enter the code and run(block for you) number. It doesn't change automatically, tho, we have to change it at every start of the trip.

We've got the same system, here, in France, same brand, and now, for about a year, changing automatically too, unless we loose connection with the farebox, happened to me the other day, I drove two round trips before somebody advised me, saying I was driving the wrong direction...

NYCT needs to upgrade to those type of devices because 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣☠☠

My transit area only has destination signs you can change manually. (As far as I know since we recently gotten new fleet)

Your device is different from ours but the clever device system works the same like yours. I put in my employee information and the bus does the rest for you. It knows where you are at every time and knows when you are scheduled to be at stops. Very impressive system.

May I ask where you get your music from? I want to make videos in the future and want to by all means avoid making any copyrighted music.

I live in the Czech Republic, and pretty much all buses here don't even have the option to control the destination sign manually, it's always set directly from a similar system to your Clever device (we mainly use devices from Telmax, EMTest and Herman electronics).

Our systems are integrated a step beyond yours though, at least at first glance

The device also serves as the ticket sales-point if the transport company requires it, is responsible for the internal LCD panels, announcements and is hooked up to devices which count how many people got on/off the bus. All this data is sent to the central dispatch in real time via LTE (as well as data about delays and potencial re-routing), and is available via an interactive map to the public (+ is visible in any apps that choose to hook into that as well).

Here most transport is operated under a public contract from the regional government (though any company is free to run a line themselves comercially), and an operator is chosen based on a few criteria, but mainly price.

What operating under a public contract means is that
a, the buses/trains become a part of a unified ticket system for the region (and for trains you have a national unified ticket system called OneTicket, which coexists with the regional systems), which from the point of the end user means that I can use one ticket to travel on trains, buses, trams and trolleybuses, provided I stick to the area and time the ticket is valid for
b, that all trains/buses have the same livery, and are all very much alike
c, the central dispatch operated by the regional transport authority (which is set up by the regional government) can ensure that buses/trains wait for each other when necessary, even if one of them is delayed
d, the regional transport authority gets to ensure the quality of the vehicles (the contract outlines what the bus has to have, as well as all the things mentioned above)
e, the regional transport authority gets to make the timetables, which again ensures easy transfers between different transport companies/different modes of transport

So yeah, I hope that at least slightly explains how our public transport operates :)

It goes automatic on our busses. We enter our route number and it displays us all times and stops and the route we´re driving.

In a perfect world our headsigns change automatically at the end of each line BUT that happens 1% of the time lol. Still trying to figure out what's the use because nobody reads them anyway smh...I've had people ride for 20 minutes then yell out..."what bus is this"

I just bought a 2003 Gillette bus for personal use.And I can't figure out how to change the message because it's asking for a code

So what if you wanted to put custom stuff on there like "Next bus please" or "please don't pee on the bus"

Do You have an emergency sign code that says call the police? I saw a bus with a sign that said "call police". I did call, not sure if driver needed help. But better safe than sorry!

I got a question for you. I'm from New York and it's annoying and a pet peeve when our bus drivers deliberately ignore or allow the homeless or crazy people on the bus (those that constantly raise their voice or speak to themselves making anyone uneasy). How do you deal with that?
