How to battle heatwaves ? You have to cool areas of land that are hotter, and that means cooling the desert. If you turn the North African desert green you reduce the heat that ends up heating Europe. So you have to turn the desert green if you want to preserve the areas north of that. How you turn a desert green is massive desalination of water, into fresh water, to use for irrigation. Mega projects to cool the desert and turn desert lands into agricultural lands that are not only cooling but productive. You cannot do it any other way. Everything else is essentially futile tinkering with the environment. Without the investment into turning deserts into arable lands, turning deserts green, there is no chance to avoid becoming victims of nature.
