OMG, after 2 hours of trying to put together an ADAPTER myself, YOUR Life saving simple tutorial, written and explained on a plain white piece of paper showing the diagram literally saved my life! Regardless if I or anyone else doesn't truly understand why the colors aren't matching the plug to color of wires, IT WORKED for what I needed. Here's a STORY on why I needed to make this particular adapter: I work about an hour away from home and a few nights ago, I left my Suburban (which is an older '99 and only has a 4 wire flat plug) at work and came home in another car with my wife during the week. A week later, I thought to myself, Hey, the next time I go to work, I'll just take my jeep with my tow bars that I normally pull with my RV and my cable for "Lights", not realizing at that very moment, that my cable that I use to connect my "Lights" from RV to Jeep when I tow is a 7 pin.

So a week later, I took my Jeep and I pulled my Jeep back using my Suburban to tow it back home, but unfortunately, without no lights. 2 days later, I successfully made the ADAPTER needed for future tows with the Help of this Awesome video. THANKS AGAIN.

I want to give you a big thank you since I used your video to build an adapter when I changed tow vehicles a year ago. It gave me brake and taillights to safely move my trailer from storage to where I could get the car wiring changed (so I could power other features). It worked like a charm!

Great video! Full confession... that is embarrassing but for the greater good I'll share
.I followed the video but some how managed to spin the wire harness 180 degrees in the housing. If the you're not successful double check you didn't do something stupid like I did. Thanks again

Thank you, my new trailer is a 7pin but UHaul seems to want to put on the flat 4. It's good to know I should be able to fix this if they refuse to do it right lol!

Tried it your way, right light stayed brake lit, no right turn signal. 2nd try I matched the colors (brown to brown, green to green, yellow to yellow) and it worked perfectly.

This will not activate trailer brakes if your trailer is so equipped. It will only make your lights work.
