Hello all and welcome to another science top 5 where today we will be changing topic and taking a look at the animal kingdom, and in particular the fastest animals in the world.

NB: In order to make sure the list was diverse I have included the fastest animal from different groups, and discounted the other fast animals that are of a similar species.

Peregrine Falcon? What about the Millennium Falcon? It did the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs.

"The peregrine falcon is found all over the world, except Antarctica."

Damn you Antarctic Treaty!

Fun fact
These animals understand nature better than the flat earther.

Dan I would love more videos in this style. I’ve been a subscriber for some time now, and would love to get my two year old son into science, and I think your channel is a great introduction.

"Sort yourself out a hot beverage", hold it there, I run out of milk.
10 minutes later, "You may keep going, Dan".

It's amazing how evolution shapes the diversity of species on Earth.

Thanks Dan, always enjoyable

My father has an encyclopaedia from the 40’s that lists the ‘Bot Fly’ as capable of doing 880 mph and producing a supersonic ‘pop’ each time it does that speed.

I’ll scan that page and post it here for a laugh next time I visit him.

Hold The Great Courses Plus up to the flat earthers lurking here is like holding a CROSS up to a VAMPIRE :) LOL

The trap jaw ant putting said jaws to the ground to spring away from danger sounds like the exploitation of a flaw in the physics of a video game. 😂 Damn amazing regardless.

Adding in my own honorable mention, my vote goes to the hummingbird. Varied by species and gender, they can beat their wings anywhere from 50-80 beats per second, and are the only species of birds that can hover in mid-air and fly in any direction at will.

I once clocked an Impala at 193kph (120mph)

It was a Chevrolet Impala. Good video Dan. Loved the footage of the sailfish.

David Attenborough's documentaries are definitely the best. He has truly impacted many people's childhood's (including my own). He is a god gifting us with his endless knowledge of biology and zoology.

Moral of the story? Don't ever try to run away from a cheetah. You're going to be fighting a losing battle. You know how they tell you not to try to run away from bears? Well, running away from a cheetah would be even worse. Oh, and in case anyone didn't get the memo, don't climb up a tree to get away from a bear either. They'll probably climb it 10x faster than you.

holy shit that ant doing a rocket jump is one of the craziest things I've ever seen from the insect world. Considering how fast those mandibles are I'm amazed it doesn't just break it's own neck doing that.

For something so tiny and fragile, ants are very smart creative, strong, they work as a team and can do some damage. It's amazing what they can do.

Its a very good thing that Noah was so agile and breathtakingly quick on his feet and managed to get two of each of these creatures onto the Ark before the "flood"
