Michael Eric Dyson ‘Tears We Cannot Stop’

Michael Eric Dyson’s July 2016 New York Times op-ed “Death in Black and White” goes behind the headlines of high profile deaths of black Americans at the hands of police officers, addressing the emotional roots and deep impacts of the killings, and the subsequent acquittals. It is subtitled “What White America Doesn’t See.” Now Dyson, a sociology professor at Georgetown, extends his case in Tears We Cannot Stop, a provocative and deeply personal call for change—subtitled A Sermon to White America. Dyson argues that whites who care about real social progress must face difficult truths, including being honest about how black grievance has been ignored, dismissed, or discounted.

In an entire two-hour conversation I only disagreed with him on one point, he's defiantly thought about these topics and I like that he can add humor in his analysis on very serious topics

Democracy is not just politics: Democracy is a farm - what you sow you will reap! Wake up, rise up and vote!

Mr Dyson does not enlighten me, he only makes me feel worried about being white. I am white but certainly not privileged. If he could change his tactics he would no doubt do a lot of good because he is driven and passionate. At the moment he drives a wedge between us all. Sad.

2830 mt first comment was only 15 minutes in now I'm about 29 minutes in and the one, thing I really liked, going in was accepting to realize it does, affect some white people as well in that same level of poverty way of life culture or whatever they call it is in. As a white boy I can admit I seen white people being racist in tge pot from, being and I, dont even think it was talked about before like it wasnt planned just together came up with lie together with out saying a word to each other which should show the level of racism across the board of these co workers. But I also, seen white boy like myself breaking that racism in thier face publicly. Showing their racism and the other racist friends or white boys like ourselves know and all rebuke the rasict in public but you'll see the ones that are real about it quick (all this was in county jail btw). And as that white boy showing this persons racism I was then excluded as "white" person. While most of the whites are the racist ones because the racism is real in jail. Even this one time my friend Omar had court the next day asked, me, the day prior if I could cut it for him the day of. Fyi this jail, had a barbers shop and education to get your babers, licence. I was a vetran and had, my day clear you get, in a rhythm and have clients bscked up, months if your good and, I was everyone's go to. So, I was like, yea, mind you Omar couldn't speak english. Now we go, up the next day, oh yea I can bring people from my pod being a vet, I did, it the day prior but a white boy the CEO knew. We get up the screw, goes "who brought this one?" Talking about Omar but it was obvious it was me. I told, him what was going on. He told me "No, I got Adam, from, 80 bed he has court next week I told him id get him up." Knowing, I, had, an, open, day.I was like ok ill get to him on are cut was easy bald fade with a 1 on top and shave facial hair, maybe 15 min tops. He says no, and sends Omar back to the pod, while, I, flipped, out and didn't, cut white boys hair and got kicked, out from, the barber shop and only had 50 hours LEFTlet me say that again 5 HOURS LEFT TO GET MY BARBERS LICENCE. I never was able, to, get my barbers, licence I didnt get back, into school in the time the state barbers association lets you before they don't accept that time anymore. So becaude I stood up to racism in jail from a CEO I didnt get to finish my education as a barber something, i loved, doing. If I was able to, get my barbers license my whole, life would be different I wouldnt be struggling, Fucking, crying, right, now. I'm, white and been knocked down, by time, and, time, again no, one, stood, up, for, me no, one, helped, me, or, claimed, racism, for me I wish I, could, be a, barber, and, because, I, lost that time I lost a full ride on grants I dont have any money work barley gets me by its hard to save anything lol I will say a lot has to, do with me, not being able to fund it and start from, scratch I, just dint ask, for, help maybe I A couole, years I can do it silver lining, in American, it can, happen, with time and, drive

I wonder how many white nationalist are here pretending to be black when reading these comments. Sure I understand self-hate as I'm a survivor lol. But I was never close to some of what I've seen here.

The Dr is very good at making White Supremacy feel not so bad with his Humor, but he had to mention that White women voted mostly for Mr Trump 😉, than for him to Defend Clinton as being less of a Racist than Trump! Obviously many blacks don't agree
