Why do the journalists keep asking the leaders to predict the future? It's fucking ridiculous. Day-in, day-out they are asking the same questions and ignoring the response. I'm beyond tired and frustrated. Laura Kuenssberg stands out particularly as asking ignorant questions repeatedly. Listen stupid journalists, the decision will be based on the current data, not on arbitrary hand waiving and overconfident foresight. This is a good thing for national health.
Equivalently, any prediction about a magical lift date will automatically ensure that a large number of people fail to maintain distancing when it arrives, no matter what. Such a date will influence people's behaviour, and should that date arrive too soon, it will result in a second peak.

The leadership communication strategy is absolutely the best strategy in terms of keeping people to abide by social distancing. One clear message, said repeatedly, and no ambiguity. Stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives.

There is some research in America apparently, regarding the higher ratio of corona deaths in ethnic minorities, that shows it's not so much about ethnicity, but it's about air pollution. They found that corona deaths are higher in people from locations with the worst air quality. This could also explain why 99% of the corona deaths are in people over 45 years old, as they would have been breathing the air in the 1960s and 1970s before catalytic converters and unleaded petrol, and also cigarette smoking was more prevalent in those times.
