Turn your art into a 3D scene and bring life to it. Not only it will give depth to your painting but also it will create a very interesting viewpoint. You can use this method just to make your art interesting or you can use it for your animation project as it's a commonly used point of view/style to reveal something interesting in an animation.

In this video I did not use the 3D features of Flash. If anyone using version below CS4, I don't think they can access to this feature. So I decided to create the parallax effect in a more usual and simple way.

WHAT IS PARALLAX SCROLLING?

Parallax scrolling is a technique in computer graphics and web design, where background images move by the camera slower than foreground images, creating an illusion of depth in a 2D scene and adding to the immersion. The technique grew out of the multiplane camera technique used in traditional animation since the 1930s.

Here, I have created the illusion of depth in the image by varying the pace of each layer with respect to their enlargement speed towards the camera/viewer as the created illusion shows a movement along the z axis.

The last layer of the image stays still, as I considered it the furthest layer and, as an object goes further, its movement become slower and ultimately stops. That is why, with zooming of a night scene, no matter what, the moon does not grow bigger as we move in to the scene. Because moon is so far away that it can not fall under this effect.

Any art work done in either Gimp or Photoshop or other such raster graphic software can be used for this purpose, only if it is layered correctly.

I hope you have learned something valuable from this video.
Thanks for watching :)
