This song has such a meaning for my family. My family is good friends with the original members of The Wurzels, only a few of whom are still with us. They covered this song and when my mum and her mum went to see them every week one summer in the 60s my Nan, who worked in a greengrocers, used to take a marrow along to give to Tommy, everyone week it would get bigger and bigger. Whenever we go to see The Wurzels at a gig now Tommy always recounts the story on stage.

And once again I'm left trying to explain to my wife why I'm laughing so hard!

I'm American so I had only heard the Tim Curry version of this. Thanks for making me smile!

I was already a fan of this song after The Wurzels did a version, but this brought such a playful joy back to the song that I had long gotten used to- like hearing it for the first time again. Love it!

For any Americans not exactly sure what a marrow is (like me). Apparently it's similar to what we'd call a zucchini.
