Xiaomi surprises again with a new gadget for the home, something out of the ordinary. is named Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 1s and it brings a 5-inch smart screen with an associated Full-HD 1080p camera so that we can see with quality who is ringing the doorbell.
Please note, however, that this device is not a smart doorbell, nor a lock connected to the IoT ecosystem of the home, but rather a smart oculus. It was created with the intention of being applied to the door of the house and brings its dedicated screen.
Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 1s is the new smart gadget to install at the front door
The “cat’s eye” consists of two devices. First, the eyepiece itself is placed at the front door, where we usually have the little ultra wide angle lens to see who’s on the other side of the door.
The other component is a 5-inch screen with IPS LCD technology, high resolution and capable of displaying the video signal transmitted through the “glass” in Full-HD 1080p. Also note that communication between the two is completely wireless (wireless).
According to Xiaomi, the outer camera/eyepiece is protected by tempered glass, while the inner screen can also display weather information and other relevant data such as time and date, in addition to the image signal.
Possible replacement of an IoT video intercom
The Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 1s Video Door Phone Kit was launched in China for 699 Yuan, about 110 USD or 99 Euros at the current conversion rate at retail price. Sales start on March 31, with the promotional price of 102 dollars, about 90 euros for the Chinese market.
The external camera of the Xiaomi Smart Cat Eye 1s kit has a focal aperture of f/2.0 and a field of view of 160 degrees thanks to the ultra wide angle lens. It works both day and night thanks to the infrared LEDs that provide night vision.
Video intercom with autonomy of up to 6 months
Both components can be charged via USB Type-C with Xiaomi advancing an autonomy of up to 6 months. It should also be noted that this product can be configured to work with Xiaomi smart speakers and the rest of the Chinese manufacturer’s IoT ecosystem.
We also have smart features like facial recognition, capable of storing repeat user information in your local database. Thus, using AI algorithms, the video door entry system will be able to announce a specific user through the smart speakers of the IoT ecosystem, or through the screen/base.
