How rat-hole miners, vital in Uttarakhand's tunnel rescue, are being given a new lease on life

One woman in northeastern India is single-handedly reviving turmeric farming as an alternative to dangerous work in illegal coal mines. She trains women to grow a high-quality variety using organic methods, offering them a safe livelihood.

Last year Dec only I visited Sohra, Cherrapunji, Jowai, Dawki and of course Shillong n Mawflong etc. I can tell one thing that if it has to be one place to visit in India, it has to be Meghalaya. Nothing beats Meghalaya and its people. I saw all women working there. We call them Kong. Will visit again and again and again.... My fiancee visited Saioo ma'am last year for her field work. She is gem of a person.
