Why Adventism is not 'Judeo-Christian'

Just because the Jews rejected the Messiah and does not want anything to do with Christianity, does not change the fact that Adventist are a true Judeo-Christian, which means they follow the Old Testament into the New, without the Old we wouldn’t have the new. The Sanctuary is a Judeo practice in the Old Testament, which Adventist still continue with, the only other difference is that we accepted the Messiah to continue his work in the sanctuary, unlike the Jews. Judaism had the truth, the people just refused to accept the fulfillment, Adventist continued the work. we are spiritual Jews grafted in, this makes us Judeo-Christians.

A couple of points…

Initially in 19th century Judeo-Christian began as a term to refer to the early Christians who wanted Christianity to be only for Jews. To separate them from the gentile Christianity those who took Christianity to the Jews.

It wasn’t until the mid-20th century around 1930s that the term took on more political baggage. To mean both Jewish and Christian traditions and values of the Old and New Teatament. And conservative and orthodox values…

In modern usage Judeo-Christian often refers to the Old Testameent and New Testament being Jewish Bible and Christian additions to the Bible. However this usage as a term is almost always tied to political reasons when talking about shared values and morality in America. Sometimes laws to keep such morality in place… so it’s arguably a term with baggage and an agenda…. Based on ideologies like conservative and orthodox values like anti-abortion for example.

Secondly only two factions in Sanhedrin were involved in Christ’s death (Sanhedrin and Pharisees), and a Jerusalem mob riled up by them. Not all Jews across Israel. Some of those Jews were later converted to Christianity.

There were (and still are) many Jewish factions the Essenes for example (who helped preserve Old Testament). Even Christians were considered a Jewish sect early on. Before they took gentile membership. Some earliest were samaritans as well but they were also Hebrew (jewish).

Yes majority of Jews rejected Jesus but most weren’t involved with Sanhedrin or the mob at his trial/crucifixion.

Secondly the Romans were involved with killing Jesus. Pilate was a Roman judge and crucifixion was a Roman execution method. Gentiles also killed Jesus but no one says all gentiles are guilty of killing Jesus…

Jewish method was typically stoning.

This is nonsense, my friend. The Jews were God's chosen people who were taught the same truths and had a mission to take these truths to the rest of the world. Seventh-day Adventists have been called in these final days with the same mission to take these same truths to the world. That is why thete is such a strong connection and indeed we are judaeo christians. Islam, JWs etc. have not the same truths to take to the world.
You are not correct in what you are saying. There is no other movement that has such a strong connection to the Jewish nation.

Hi Andrew, it’s good to see you making a video again. Interesting points.

A counter argument to your point about combining terms for other religions is that Christianity did come from Judaism, whereas it did not come from Jehovahs witnesses or Catholics, etc.

Perhaps you would argue that Christianity did not come from the modern iterations of Judaism since they more or less exist as a rejection of the Messiah. But that may be an overly fine distinction for some.

On the other hand, I can appreciate the need to distinguish a religion that is supposed to be based around the acceptance of Christ with one that today is based around his rejection.

Some would says it’s a term coined to gather a political union between Jews and Christians. Others would say it’s trying to bridge a gap with Jews to emphasize our common heritage. We recognize the same scriptures and recognize that God spoke to the Jewish people and we got the Messiah from them.

I don’t know if it’s something to get too riled up about . I think it depends how the term is used.

He is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Christianity is founded on Judaism. Christ was a jew. The Bible has been written by Jews (except luke). Judaism were the only true believers of the Creator God. Christianity is a continuation of Judaism. From physical Israel to spiritual Israel.

Dear Brother Andrew, We all lack something in our knowledge and understanding. I am the first to admit that I am ignorant about many things. But today, Andrew, we need to reason together and apply only the Scriptures to support our beliefs.
First, the 1611 AD translators didn't do us any favor with some of their translations of the Scriptures. Knowing Hebrew can be helpful but not necessary to understand what is genuine and what is not. Let's go over what I know from the Scriptures, and you're welcome to keep your present understanding if you'd like to. I keep an honest, independent mind as I allow the Holy Spirit to teach and correct me. I respect your views and usually agree, except we have some things that need to be explained from a different mindset.

1. Rom 11:21: "For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee." In Rom chapter 11, we see the Gentiles called wild branches and Israelites called Natural Branches. Even the Adventists once taught that Israelites and Gentiles are grafted into the True Vive, which is Jesus. When a wild branch is grafted in, they are not Spiritual Israel. They are adopted as if they were born into the land with the same rights, duty, and responsibility to keeping the 10 Commandments, and the instruction on how to keep them was recorded by Moses, the Prophets, Jesus, Disciples, Paul, James, and John when Revelation was written. This right of adoption was given by God to Israel when they left Egypt with all those who were with Israel but not the natural branches or DNA of Jacob.

2. The Gentiles include all humanity that is not Jacob's DNA. So Arabs and Muslims today are accepting Jesus as the Messiah who rose from the dead on the third day. For a person to turn from Islam to follow the Messiah, we should understand the invite to the Gentiles is closing. Before Salvation closes, the King told the invites to go out onto the highway and byway and invite anyone willing to attend the Wedding Supper. But they must put on Jesus to cover their nakedness. Not everyone will be a perfect "overcomer" like Jesus. Indeed, Moses' garments were not spotless, standing before the Father, but he was so loved that after he died, he rose again and was taken to heaven. Fulfilling that man is appointed once to die, but the gift of God is eternal life Romans 6:23; Heb. 9:27.

3. Do we really know who Jesus came to the Earth to Save? Answer this yourself: How many Gates are there in the New Jerusalem? What are the Names of those Gates? Do you see any Christian Church names over those gates? The answer is No!
Do not confuse the modern Nation of Israel or Jews with True Israel. There is no Spiritual Israel in the Scriptures, so let us not add words to God's Word! Also, let us refrain from teachings not supported in the Scriptures, making us feel safe and secure! All Christian Churches and even Hebrew Worship Centers that accept Messiah say they are the Bride! So wrong!
The SDA Church is not the Bride; no other organized Church is the Bridegroom's Wife!

4. If you really believed your own Prophet Ellen G. White, then you would not be saying the SDA Church is the remnant Bride of Jesus. Ellen told you that True Israel, or God's True Assembly, is invisible! His Church is not an organized religion or an Assembly of worshipers. Only those in the Lamb's Book of Life will be saved, enter the New Jerusalem, and drink from the River of Life. No Church membership is a ticket for an Angel to collect me and take me to the Great Cloud from Heaven!

5. The mystery of the Gospel is to follow and reflect the Character and deeds of Jesus; the first duty in the morning is asking for a fresh anointing of the Father's Fire or be in danger of running out of "Oil" to keep the Fire Burning on the Lampstand with Seven Lamps within my heart. The Church doesn't teach the meaning of the Lampstand in the Temple's 1st compartment. Read Isa 11:2, and you will understand the Seven-Fold Holy Spirit Jesus explained in chapter 1 of Revelation. If you read the KJV, the candlestick must be corrected and named. Jesus is amid Seven Lampstands and the Seven Stars in his hand are the angel messengers sent to each assembly, represented by the Seven Oil Lamps on each of the Seven Lamp Stands.
If you are paying attention to an Adventist family, that should wake you up! Jesus did not return to heaven and move into the Holy place in the Temple outside the Holy City. In the Holy Place or 1st compartment, there is only one Lampstand. You can go to Rev. 22:1-3, and you may notice where the dual throne is located where the living are on trial.

Andrew doesn't understand why Judeo-Christian culture got tagged onto Christians in the USA. Our founders of this republic were very God-fearing. Much of our laws are based upon the Laws given to Israel and recorded by Moses.
Many get confused when reading "Jews" in their Bibles. Jews are just a nickname for Judah in the beginning. Today, it takes on a different meaning in modern Israel. They claim all the Tribes of Israel are Jews! Sorry, that boat will not float!

If Christians do not understand who they are in the plan of Salvation, they are listening to men instead of reading the Scriptures. Well, yes, Christians are not the same as they were in the early 1900s. At one time, Adventists were known all over the world as people of the Book! That was long ago, but I remember people telling me they knew their Bibles.
Today, I speak with SDA Pastors and many other Church Brands. Today, I am better read in Adventist Church History than most SDA Pastors I have met. Asking them simple questions about Ellen White's first prophetic vision, most don't remember what it was. It seems Ellen White has been tossed under the Church Bus; on the West Coast of the USA and East Coast, I don't find many students reading the Bible like a love letter. I have not found anyone reading the Bible from cover to cover every year, and finding a severe prophecy student in the SDA Church who can share their own views is like finding "Hen's Teeth." I love the Adventist family. They have so much to share. All the Christian faiths have good positives, and some things need improving, which is different from reading most of the letters in Rev. Chapters 2 and 3.

One severe last concern I carry: Your William Miller had the correct teaching on the Close of Probation, which was rehearsed every year before the Day of Atonement. All personal sins of the last 12 months must be confessed before the Day of Atonement. No personal sins were ever allowed to be confessed when the High Priest was working in the Most Holy. Also, no Moring and Evening Lambs were ever offered on the Day of Atonement. Review Lev. 16 and other records penned by Moses.
How can an Adventist read the Early Writings chapter at the end of the 2300 days and need help understanding the mistake they made in 1844. Ellen's first prophetic vision was in December 1844. No prophetic visions can be applied to Oct. 22, 1844. When a Prophet is first given a prophetic vision, it is never fulfilled in the past. It always points forward. For years, the SDA Church used that chapter to prove that Ellen saw Jesus move into the Most Holy on Oct. 22, 1844. If the High Priest has been there since Oct. 22, 1844, then no man has an intercessor in heaven after Oct. 22, 1844. We are not allowed to change the Laws given and recorded by Moses. How all the overly sensitive Adventists have been offended. If I need to be corrected, please correct me; I am approachable and willing to be correct.
Yes, you will point to the middle of Daniel 7:9, 10 where you think the Books were opened and Judgement was set. Daniel was written in Hebrew, and the Books that were opened are the Seven Scrolls, each with a Seal and one rolled up upon the other, which the Father in the Most Holy hands down to the Lion of Judah, seen in Rev. chapter 5. Most understand the KJV Books in Rev. 5 needed to be corrected. Seven Sealed Scrolls, each with a seal, were handed down to Jesus.
What was on those Scrolls? The Almighty Judge hands down the upon the wicked and apostate nominal believers that have fallen away from the truth. The great falling away must occur before the "Man of Sin is released."

First, he must protect his beloved Bride, numbered and sealed before the Father departs the Courtroom. Jesus is seen as the Two Wings of a Great Eagle, as the exact words were used when Israel was led into the wilderness...the Bridegroom's Bride is led into the wilderness where Angels will protect and provide for the 144, 000 scattered about the Earth (Rev. 12:14-17). This Bride of 144, 000 literally in number is standing spotless without sin. Their garments are spotless. They are the "Overcomers" we read about in Rev. 3:21 who, like Jesus, who overcame all sin, the Bride will sit on His Throne. The Bride is not the Great Multitude that man can not number, called the Wedding Guests we read in Rev. 19.

I think "Judeo-Christian" is an umbrella term to point to all Christian denominations that directly or indirectly have an origin or derivative relationship from the Torah or the OT as we know it today; otherwise, we Christians would exist as though we just made an appearance in history out of the turmoil that preceded the Diaspora.
Our Lord JC said, "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me." John 5:46 Those words in themselves constitute the intimate connection of Judaism and Christianity.
The only thing different in Adventism is the Jews are a mission field for us just as any other nation even so, Paul says "I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not!..." Romans 11:1 Then he goes to explain that God has reserved for Himself a remanent. Not all Jews will be saved just as not all Adventists will be saved or not all the rest of Christendom will be saved, only a remanent... Let's prepare ourselves with fear and trembling, Philippians 2:12

If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever.
