It's #jamuary again!

We are a large community of creative minds who love music. The #jamuary is an idea by @truecuckoo that was picked up by many Musicians/Jammers because it's just cool.

Every day in January we publish a jam, it should be quite short, it doesn't have to be anything special, just put your thoughts aside and start playing.

We then upload this jam to our channel and tag it with the hashtag
#jamuary2023

The hashtag is spreading and we are growing even closer together.

Welcome to my #Jamuary2023 Day 8

It's always amazing. You have hardware that you use again and again but you have never tested this one combination and then BAM, you think: How could I never try THAT?

That's what we have today on day 8 of #jamuary2023. A combination that seems so simple and yet has so much potential. As I was preparing this jam, I couldn't believe my ears and couldn't wait to play around with it.

And yes, and the rest, you can hear that for yourself. I am absolutely convinced of this simple but powerful setup.

What did I use:
- Roland AIRA J-6 as Sequencer
- KORG Volca FM (Arpeggio)
- Skulpt (Pad)
- KORG Volca Keys (Lead)
- PO-33 (Rhythm)
- Specular Reverb v3

The J-6 here triggers the chords to the Skulpt but at the same time it also sends notes to the Volca FM which, with its mono setting, uses just one of the 4 notes and then forms an arpeggio out of it. The PO-33 supports with some beats and after about 1/3 of the jam I play random lead notes on the keys.

Everything is varied by a bit of knob turning here and there.

I hope you like it and I can give you suggestions for your own music.

See you tomorrow for #Jamuary2023 Day 9

It's incredible the apparent simplicity you create these tracks

Lovely. Sunday breakfast in the sun with another coffee and another “not cigarette”. 🙌

Great setup & great jam! Love the Skulpt, is a great small synth but with powerful sound! All the sound in this jam are perfectly mixed, from the drum to the leads!

Didn't know that J-6 could sequence external gear. Clever idea with that FM monophonic mode

Very nice. I like how you fit in the arpeggiated figure on the FM.

Just what I needed during Sunday morning breakfast.
How dare you not use the sounds of the J-6 though hahaha. Cool that it doubles as a sequencer!

WOW! This is my new favorite Volcaniced tune!!! That beat really makes this, too. Did you start with the beats or add them later?

nice idea - does the FM randomly select which note it will arp?
