Great video Oode :) these comparisons have come a long way, great camera quality with slow motion and accurately timed app tapping really gets the point across. The new comparison of how each device is using the available RAM and what effect this has on user experience once apps start to require a reload is another great addition. This is something I've felt for a while as being a downside to Samsung devices in particular. Keep it up man!

Finally! Someone who understands my point of view. Really good specs but that S-Lag should be none existent on that tier of phone. It's not excusable..however the camera and screen does make up for it :)

Samsung is leader when it comes to Android devices on the hands of the Grand public but they're screwing Android experience like no one else

Another great comparison as always. Your videos are just much more informative and show practical user experience compared to other comparison videos which are all fluff with no real value.

About the actual video, same results as the S5 vs Nexus 5 video. With the most powerful hardware in the market and running over the best version of Android, TouchWiz still doesn't perform as well as stock on the N5, or even a skinned version like on the M8.

It'll be interesting when Tizen comes out. Without Android running the phone, I wonder what Samsung will be able to do since they have complete control over the software.

Thanks for your unbiased review.  I had a HTC LTE 4G for years and just recently switched to the Galaxy S5.  I noticed the slight lag even versus my old phone with multi-tasking.  Personally the camera quality was lacking in the HTC M8 which is why I eventually went with the S5.  I've had it for 2 weeks now and am fairly happy with the overall performance. While there is lag between the apps actually playing the most intensive games (Need for Speed™ Most Wanted,  Deus Ex: The Fall, etc) I haven't experienced any.

Coming from a HTC Thunderbolt the Galaxy S5 is pure heaven.  After the disaster with the Thunderbolt I would be hard pressed to get another HTC.  Deal breaker for me was HTC One eliminating the replaceable battery.

I can really see why there's hate towards the big black bezel on the M8. It's already annoying me and I've only seen it in a few videos.

You're the only one who talked about the pause on the S5 when you swipe to get to the magazine ux

This brings back horrid memories of my brief but jelly disappointing ownership of the S4, LAG. This meant me keeling my Nexus 4 which, for my needs, far out performed the S4 in every department. .
The Samsung way it seems is to deliberately introduce a delay which it's users will perceive as lag. Bad move. A this lag has reared it's ugly head once more in the latest Galaxy phone.
Thanks for the video as I was beginning to believe I had imagined it

Not trying to defend Samsung here but the multi tasking button also acts as a menu button when double tapped. the phone is waiting to be double tap therefore contribuing to the pause. you can disable the double tap option and that should significantly speed up multi-tasking.

#lagwiz  all that power and it still lags.  one of these days they will get it sorted.
