How To Get Better Audio Settings on OBS with Reaper Plugins Tutorial

A Tutorial on how to setup OBS Studio with VST Plugins, then in turn testing them out on the Reaper software for better results.This tutorial should work for any Condenser Microphone that uses USB i.e Blue Yeti, SL600 etc.

ratio on the compressor works this way: 4:1 means for every 1 decibel above the threshold you get 4db of gain reduction. attack and release both affect how the compressor handles the signal as well. a fast attack kicks the compressor in faster and the same with release.

rolling off 100hz on eq helps with background noise as well as a noise gate. you can also purchase vst plugins like Waves Vocal Rider which behaves like a compressor in that it constantly keeps levels in a certain range automatically but without compression so it doesn’t leave your audio squashed sounding. DeEssing plug-ins are great for reducing sibilant noise of letters like P T and S

Lots of videos on this and it's easy to tell how helpful they're going to be by how the person making the video's voice sounds in the video! This one is great and has been really helpful! I definitely did a little extra tweaking on the eq but this is a great base. Also like someone recommended below it might also be worth looking into a "deesser" for people once you get this set up. There's one built in to the reaper plugins even.

Can I ask why youre using webcam as your audio input and not the mic youre talking into?
Also, I am not seeing the vst plugin listed in the settings of either my camera or mic... It shows the vst plugin, but there is nothing in the drop down on the right.

You can save the Reaper plugins with presets and those presets as defaults to come up the same way every time you open the plugin. Click on the [+] on the plugin to do that.

I am in reaper, but the problem is my PC is very loud so while im testing the EQ, I can hear EVERYTHING. It doesnt seem to be filtering any noise at all and that is getting in the way of the EQ testing. Am I supposed to ignore the noise and fix it later with noise suppression in OBS? If so...would that not distort the EQ? Note im using an XLR microphone Audio Technica, so like...Im guessing those pickup more noise. I tried fiddling with the gain on my board but it is not enough to eliminate background noise on its own, what would you recommend? Aside from just moving the pc somewhere else or getting quieter fans haha

Hi, I can't seem to make a recording out of this. Nothing shows up on the timeline when I inserted a new track. I can hear myself while recording but nothing is recorded when I played it back. Can anyone please help?
