one of those albums you can listen to for the rest of your life and never get tired of

I put it on just last night, having not listened for a while. It's 100% a masterpiece in every way.

The mixes on some tracks are so unusual, with drums barely discernable through the thick undergrowth of distorted guitars. It's so dirty and gritty and yet so dream-like at the same time. The stereo field for the guitars sound so wide and all encompassing - the album quite literally swallows you up and surrounds you, tempting you into a trance like state.

One of my favourite albums of all time.

I remember exactly where I was when I heard Loveless for the first time in 91

When this album came out, I was convinced it was the future of rock'n'roll. So disappointed it wasnt... but I'm very glad young people are rediscovering it, and picking up and carrying the torch.

Part of the reason it still sounds unique is that it avoids what people think are key 'shoegaze' sounds: delay, chorus and conventional reverb. They can make something sound 'big' but not like loveless.
