Kinda disappointing that only Andrea can see the demons. 🙁 I was kinda hoping Kristen and Ben would eventually see that the demons are indeed real.

I am disappointed in the series' finale. It raises more questions than it answers. Is leeland dead? Why stuff him in that box where the relic used to be? He is the new relic? So Krystin's babies eyes glow. Despite being baptised, he really is the new devil???? The 60 still exists then? Kristyn moves to Rome. I get it.

I’m hoping the nun is the leader of the entity and what better way to lead than always serve others in humility.

LOVED THIS SHOW. Finale was so rushed… too many plot holes.

Like most shows it hits a level of mediocrity and stays there untill the ratings drop then like out of nowhere it gets better and say its the final season then as if the network had a change of heart keeps it going.

Breaking Bad did this and it took the terminally ill lead 'forever' to die when we where told he didn't have much time...

This show despite being sci-fi, is so accurate, it's very very sad. They obviously used a church for filming, because the set is just to damned realistic.
•••
So why is it sad? Read on.

As science brings more and more things into our lives that make things easier and fun, it has also caused a huge change in people's beliefs. In the 60s and 70s, things were just boring. TVs were heavy bulky boxes, cell phones would break your back if you tried carrying one with you. There was only cellular one. Forgot what it's name was back then. Electronics we have today, we're just imagined special effects, having every kid who saw a UFO movie, wishing if one showed up, that they would be taken when it left.
Church was a huge thing. Most believed in God. Had the CW broadcasted supernatural back in the 60s, depicting God as evil like it did in season 15 a few years back, that network would have most likely be permanently blacklisted by families if it was lucky, or burned to the ground. We all saw what happened when John Lennon said they were as famous as Jesus. A lot of their good music was burned in bin fires as a result. Nintendos Shin Megani Tensi Apocalypse, a game that also depicts God as evil, would be crushed by the churches back in the days.
Peoples beliefs have changed drastically with the advance of science. Show said the church lost 30% of its church goers. In real life the accurate amount would be 80% loss.

Seeing the church in the TV show be defiled, just about brought me to tears, and I'm not a church going person. I lost my first wife due to 9/11, and the church lost me there after. So why did this episode sadden me?
Long before 9/11, before my beliefs changed, I already started seeing a large change in church fairing people leave the church. A priest actually opened my eyes to how bad it was around 1996.
I was helping a church in Bayshore. Had I been there years before, I would definitely have seen what was happening. A cement wall was behind the church, with vines of ivy growing over it. There was a part of the church that was chained off, and it got my curiosity, so I asked the priest why. He took me on a tour.
Unlocking the chain in the back, he took me to a hallway, in which we went up a stairwell onto a second floor I didn't even know existed!! Through a door, we went onto a balcony. The only one of 8 that was in tact. The others had collapsed, or it the state of collapsing from water damage from above. Yes, the church was in trouble, and didn't have the funds coming in by its patrons to fix it. Worse, the entire church body had lost 90% of its income from donations, so even the other churches couldn't help. The balcony was just as beautiful, and even more so, more beautiful than what she Show displays to us. Every piece of ancient wood, even the ceilings, were all hand carved. I was looking at a small part of history, that many don't know about, and long forgotten.
I have not seen beauty like this in new churches. Some of the churches I seen recently, look like converted block buster videos.
Anyways, the priest took me back down, and brought me to another set of doors that was chained closed. He brought up his key chain that had keys for locks that dated back to the late 1800s, early 1900s. I swear, the weight of that Keychain looked as if it would pull this old priest down. I wanted to offer help, but was more afraid of offending him asking.
This set of doors, went to a tunnel that went through the wall and both down and up. He told me to stay with him so as not to get lost. He wasn't joking. Just being their made me feel as if I was defiling and disturbing spirits long resting.
So many rooms on both the right and left of the long corridor. Mote stairs going up. Was told no, the flooring above isn't safe. We turned left, into what was still a classroom, frozen in time from what looked like world War II era. I remember seeing North Ridge elementary school in Commack, with its green chalkboards and desks. The priest told me to touch nothing, and I didn't . Think of the church we see in this TV show, but covered in 40+ years of dust. Every wooden desk was hand carved. Walls, ceiling. Each desk had it's own little chalk board a student would write on. A class took place in this very room at one point. Something happened here where every student put their work down nice and neatly, in preparation to continue another day. Sadly that day never came. Those children never came back to continue their work. My mouth, about to ask so many questions, locked in place, seeing the years running down the priests face. Wasn't till the internet came, that I got to talk about this year's later, to be hit with the reality of why all these old classrooms were frozen in time. Polio had struck. This very old priest who had tears running down his cheeks, had known many of these children who died from polio. My guess is, many students got sick and a call was made to send the children home, and reopen one day? It never reopened. That was the beginning of people losing faith. I can't blame them. Polio deformed many who survived that disease. Had 9/11 not happened, and I saw My children succumb to such a disease, I'd have lost faith too!
History tells us it was only children growing up who suffered. Nope. Adults did as well. The next tunnels brought me to what was bedrooms for priests, and another corridor to bedrooms for nuns. The woodwork throughout this place is something that can never be redone. I went to look into one room and almost got cloth lined by the priest stopping me from going further. He pointed for me to look from the doorway, but to go no further. His fingers touching his lips demanding silence.
The ornate carved bed, unmade, with a teddy bear as colorless and lifeless as this room. That room hit heavily on my soul. My dusty and now dirty hand rubbed my eye, feeling several tears I didn't even notice I had shed.
The priest put his hand on my arm and slowly led me away. Relocking every set of doors as we went by. When we got back into the building we were working out of, I saw myself in a mirror. From head to toe, I was covered in dust. I looked like a ghost. The lines going down my face, clearly showed the tears I shed earlier..
The priest told me I was the first to see some of the old history. No one had stepped foot in there since it was locked up many years ago. He explained to me he wanted to show me more, and would in two more weeks, but I must tell no one. He didn't want those places defiled. He said I have an honest heart, which was why he showed me and no one else, and said he'd show me more in a few weeks if I swore to tell no one. I did, and you are all wondering why I'm breaking my promise and saying something now? Read on. You will know soon enough.
I never got to see the rest. I met up a few weeks later with a very old and strict nun. She refused to let me see the rest. It wasn't so much about breaking very old rules, but that she didn't have the keys. As a matter of fact, they had locksmiths there rekeying locks on other buildings. I asked what was going on, and found out the church was selling off some of its other buildings. It was when I saw a lock being drilled out, that I asked why didn't they ask the priest for the keys. It was then I found out that the priest who showed me around, passed away in his sleep that very same night after I left. When he passed away, he took with him the location where he stored them. I left shortly after. When I was moving out of NY, my brother took me by there so I could say my goodbyes to any of my friends, should they still work there. What I saw, put a lump in my stomach. Simular to what I felt when seeing what was happening to the actors in this TV show. The church, the wall, everything I had seen years prior was gone. Not a single thing existed as far as the eye can see, that showed a church ever existed there. All I saw was land, being developed for houses, with wood frames sticking put of the ground like skeletons. All that hand crafted history, gone. Even the cemetery!!! The desgust and disappointment was overwhelming. How could anyone destroy such beautiful history, even if sad. Not one building was preserved.
This is why I'm telling you now. Not like anyone can go visit and defile anything. Nothing exists anymore. 😢.
Church is still strong in other countries. But here, I see less and less, every year. That poor nun battling demons, losing her home. Yes it's a story, but still, it strikes so close to home.
