There Is A Single Slugma in The Johto Region

I have recently fallen in love with slugma, such a good looking pokemon and it looks great in pokemon heartgold and pokemon soulsilver. I had a hard time using magcargo and camerupt when I was kid because I thought they were so bad but they've both really grown on me. I love this guy in violet city too, such a treasure trove of free goodies if you can use the code generator!.

Slugma's rarity in Gold and Silver is probably why a lot of people thought it was a Gen 3 Pokemon.

It's funny to think that the Magcargo line and Skarmory were more prevalent in the Gen 3 games, to the point that you would think they're from Gen 3.

It should have been in the Burned Tower basement back in the original Gold and Silver. Also, put Misdreavus on the ground floor as a rare spawn at night.

The sheer fact that Slugma is that much rarer in its ‘introductory’ region of Johto than in others. Like Hoenn, to the point of it (and/or Magcargo) being with the Rival, a Gym Leader, AND a Villainous Team. No wonder a bunch of people initially thought they were Gen 3 Mons.

Honest to goodness I didn't know about existence of those eggs until very recently, I think as kid I just skimmed over the fact you can get them when looking at serebii page, all those secret phrases just confused me lol

Gen 2 has so many little hidden details that make me love it so much but god of the level curve isn’t the worst it’s ever been in those games and especially the remakes

I actually have a history with this Slugma! I was doing an all Johto pokemon run of soulsilver and was strapped for a fire type, until I learned about this cute little slug. I remember running for like 30 minutes in violet city to hatch it, and it LOVED me, always cuddling up to me and being affectionate when following me, I got very attached to this slug.

Gold and silver were planted to be the final games in the series which affected a few things in strange ways.

I think the intent of some of the new Pokémon being rare/hard to get was mainly aimed at making them seem like the player could have missed them in the original games. Like slugma only being found in kanto could meant lore wise it is a kantonian Pokémon.

Of course some johto Pokémon added in the games are just supposed to be common johto Pokémon but things like larvatar etc are clearly supposed to be rare and hard to find.
