New petrol and diesel cars are on the way out. If you could save one model, what would it be? ⬇️

Goodbyes are the worst. The NA I6's and V8's era in the 2000's was magic.

Three thoughts: 1) EVs for point A to point B, internal combustion cars for enjoyment - makes good sense. 2) After Porsche heard the outcry from the larger Porsche community, they ditched the 4 cylinder turbo engine in the Cayman. 3) Lighter is more fun - until batteries get lighter, EVs may be fast, but they won’t be fun.

I miss the self-maintenance part of owning a car. The bond between car and driver is gone in the face of modern sports cars. This is what economics did for us.

Man, you've had your time with cars, but what about those who were born in 2000s watching top gear, having a poster car, a dream, it will be cruel on them.

when the government realise how much tax they gonna loose out on, they're gonna put it on your electric bill instead. That's where you will notice the difference in cost

I agree that electric motors will be powerful and fast. What we'll miss will be light weight and highly maneuverable cars like the Lotuses and Miatas and RX7's of the past.

Nobody ever mentions motorcycles in this debate. They are an emotion that cannot be replicated by batteries.

Can you remember anytime in history where one technology was so vastly superior that it had to be banned to increase profit margins?

So basically you want to limit petrol cars to wealthy people. Kinda gate keepey don’t you think?
Here’s an idea, how about we just not ban petrol cars.
We all know that ICE cars barely even make a dent when it comes to pollution. And we know that ICE cars have become unbelievably clean and efficient over the last 10-15 years… in fact they’re quite literally 1000% more fuel efficient.
That’s basically the equivalent of getting rid of 9/10 cars from 10 years ago.
It’s not like there no progress being made here.
If this was really about the environment, the main focus wouldn’t be on cars.
Stop mindlessly advocating for banning stuff because people told you to.

If you have an exciting petrol car right now - keep it, cherish it, and don’t take it for granted ☺️

I love how people think electric cars have no green foot print! Think again, the massive car plants that are built such as tesla create a huge foot print, mining lithium for the batteries, building a new charging infrastructure, then what will they do with the millions of batteries when they die! Lots to think about for the future 🤔

The biggest problem I have with electric cars is that The car makers insist on making them look weird. If they could make an Electric Challenger that was identical to the gas version except for what’s under the hood that would be awesome and would probably sell like crazy. I think for every day cars if the only way you could tell the difference between electric and gas was by lifting the hood people wouldn’t have as much of an issue just my two cents

Time to go shopping for a roaring V12 just before the end of 2030. Those things will be collectibles in a couple of years from then

I like Rory, he was great on Top Gear, but there’s so many questions he hasn’t answered-who really can afford a brand new electric car when the majority of the public buy second hand ICE cars? What will happen to those who can’t afford a new EV? Rory bought a second hand leaf which has 110 miles of range and a new battery costs £5000. How are those who can’t for what ever reason use a wall box charger? Where’s the electricity coming from to power these EVs? Coal/Gas/Nuclear-Yepp REALLY environmentally friendly?!? Try getting 350 miles of range in an ID3 in the middle of summer or winter when heating/air con is on, charging phones, headlights etc… USELESS!!

my only issue with ev's has always been the lack of sound because no supercar or sportscar should be silent other than that they're honestly fine you're right
