Although Class 8 Trucks only make up 4% of the vehicles on the road, they use about 20% of the nation's transportation fuel. In this video, learn how new fuel-efficient technologies are making our country's big rigs quieter, less polluting, more energy-efficient, and less expensive to operate over time.

This video is missing a lot of details that actually saves a lot of fuel and/or reduces pollution. To start, doesn't some trucks have batteries for the A/C that doesn't require the engine to be on all the time? A lot of truck drivers sleep in their trucks when the day is over so they run their A/C often.
Also, isn't running biodiesel a good way to save the environment? Depending on the blends, the MPG difference is either a tiny bit lower(for B100) to better than diesel (B5 - B20). But in every way you put it, using biodiesel reduces emissions to the double-digits.
Lastly, what about regenerative braking? This doesn't just apply to hybrids, it applies to plain old diesel too. When a truck is coasting or braking, wouldn't letting that momentum run the generator reduce fuel consumption. On top of that, wouldn't running less belts put less wear and tear too?
I know that's a lot of questions, but they're important ones. So please answer

Heavy-duty tractor-trailers -- also known as Class 8 trucks -- are a vital part of America's economy, hauling about 80 percent of the nation's goods.

Our SuperTruck initiative, in partnership with industry, is working to make these big rigs more efficient by developing new technologies that lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

You can save $20, 000/year on fuel !!..all for the low low price of what...1 million for this super rig? Don't business owners write off fuel as a business expense anyway? Just wondering.

As soon as you said combustion engine your "Advanced" filler word compounds it's meaning as a filler word. Your a government entity. A public servant. As such we look to you for leadership and you failed us. You failed. You failed your kids and their kids and every generation here after. My responsibility is to be better than you as a leader your responsibility is to make sure your generation makes sure the next exceeds your own life because that's the meaning of innovation. But I won't continue to allow these failures to happen. You won't beat me. So you might as well cut your money lines and attach the heart strings to your next generation and for once be a fucking leader.
