Amity: Mom, I'm gay.
Odalia: Okay.
Amity: Also, I'm dating Luz.
Odalia: You WHAT???

Odalia: I can excuse mass murder but I draw the line at you dating the brat human.
Amity: DON'T TALK ABOUT HER LIKE THAT!!!
Luz: *YOU CAN EXCUSE MASS MURDER!??!?!?!*

"Mom I'm gay and dating a human!"
"I did not raise a child to be some disgusting freak!"
"Just kidding, I'm only gay."
"Oh, that's fine "

This scene makes me smile every time I see it. Not just because homophobia’s not a thing but also because she’s like “we’ll find you a new girlfriend” and for some reason I just find that so funny.

Fans: "she's probably homophobic"

The writers: "nah, she just hates Luz specifically. She has nothing against gay people"

One thing I love about the Owl House is that absolutely no one is homophobic or transphobic. Even the villains are consistently accepting of LGBT people. Odalia has no problem with her daughter being a lesbian. Darius (when we thought he was on Belos’ side, as well as now) respects Raine’s pronouns. No one bats an eye at Amity referring to having a girlfriend.

Not only is it nice to escape to a world without discrimination against the LGBT community, but it’s also great to see the trope of bigoted bad guys subverted in this way. Discrimination isn’t stated to be wrong, it just straight-up doesn’t exist. Kind of shows how arbitrary it all is in real life.

"I can excuse genocide, but I draw the line at homophobia."

-Odalia probably

I liked how they did the twist that she wasn’t being homophobic, she just doesn’t want her daughter to date a criminal. Even with Dana saying there’s no homophobia, it still got me.

She is like: "I don't care if my daughter is a lesbian, I care whether she's the BEST lesbian."

Turns out to have known the draining spell: “YOU VILLAIN!”

Turns out to not be homophobic: “YOU RESPECTABLE VILLAIN!”

The creator talked about this in an interview, she said she didn't want the Boiling Isles to be a place where homophobia is a thing, she wanted to make a world where lgbtq stuff* was normalised. So Amity's parents were never going to be homophobic from the get go cuz homophobia doesn't exist to them.

Not being homophobic doesn't make you a good person as a whole, and Odalia proves it.

Odalia: I can excuse child labor but homophobia is where I draw the line.
Alador: You can excuse child labor?

The writers really said "Even the lowest of villains in my universe wouldn't be HOMOPHOBIC" and I respect that

Dana did explain that homophobia doesn’t exist in the boiling isles, homosexuality is just… there! That’s why a literally villain (terra) respected raine’s pronouns w/o hesitation

"My girlfriend's mom doesn't approve of our relationship."

"No just a hater."

She literally said “we’ll find you a new girlfriend”
She’s not actually homophobic. She just doesn’t like Luz
