On this one, I dig into the weird phenomenon where people put sewing stuff inside Royal Dansk Danish cookie tins! Plus I dig into the Mermaid brand Danish Butter Cookies and the famously litigious Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen! It's a weird fun journey.

For years I didn’t even know these were sold with cookies in them

Hope you enjoy this one! I had a couple side stories about mermaid statues and Danish islands, which I found particularly fun!

Friends of ours gave us one this past Christmas, the first thing I said off the cuff was "hey, look at that, a sewing tin".

My grandmother was a seamstress in her youth, we had several of these filled with buttons dating back to the 1930's. At least, the buttons did, still on cards. My other grandmother did the same thing with her sewing supplies, except she kept all *her* buttons loose in gallon glass jars.

Between all of both my grandmothers' and my mom, we had a very well equipped sewing room, with tins full of different things labelled with sharpie on masking tape: shirt buttons, underwear buttons, snaps, hooks and eyes, zippers, bias tape, needles & thimbles, and spools of thread... All tightly organised, in stackable blue Danish Cookie tins.
For reference, I grew up in the '60's, my parents were first world war boomers, , and my grandparents were all born prior to 1900. I was a late baby!

Oh yeah, we had loads of these growing up, specifically with sewing stuff in them. I didn't realise it was a cultural phenomenon. It's a pretty good deal. For the price of a plastic storage container, you can get a tin one that comes with free biscuits. I still buy the empty plastic ones because I forgot that I could just do this.

"This brand is popular in Denmark." Proceeds to showcase a brand your average Dane has never seen before. Aside from that, pretty good video :) Also, absolutely no one likes the Eriksens.
