James and Thomas take the new 2019 Ford Mustang GT Performance Pack 2 (PP2) and pit it against the Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE. They are price-matched, and both V8 rear wheel drive powerhouses. They've also been given the 'track treatment' by their manufacturers. The boys explore the cars driving dynamics and what they are like to live with every day. Can visibility of the and icon of the Mustang compete with the Camaro's performance offerings? Exterior and interior styling comparisons help figure out which one takes it in the looks department, and the back roads do the rest. Watch to see the outcome. SUBSCRIBE!

I got used to the visibility after a few years of owning the Camaro, then I drove another car and was like, holy shit, I can see everything!

I have an ‘18 1LE. It’s an absolute dream to drive. I’ve owned Mustangs, Porche’s and various other sports cars but this out paces them all. Granted I’ve made some small performance mods since new but even stock it’s a tremendous bargain. The Tremec is rated for 700ftlbs of torque as is. Also, I’m so tired of people commenting about the visibility. Next time you see someone with a Camaro ask them about it. It’s not horrendous. You just learn to look around more. I can’t say from experience but I bet it’s about the same as a Lamborghini or some Ferrari’s but you don’t hear auto journalists whining about it in those cars. After rebates and a negotiated sale price, I paid $47, 250 for a 2SS 1LE. Where in the world can you get another new car with stats to match?

I love the Mustang, but that asymmetrical stripe bugs my OCD so much.

Just by comparing the Camaro SS1LE with some exotic sport cars, we are able to see that this Camaro is already competing in a higher league:
Per C&D at VIR:
2:54.6 Ferrari 430 Scuderia
2:54.8 Camaro SS1LE
The performance Lap times of the ZL1 & ZL1 1LE are much better.
2:49.9 Ferrari 458 Italia
2:50.1 Camaro ZL1

2:45.1 Ferrari 488 GTB
2:45.7 Camaro ZL1 1LE
2:45.8 McLaren 650 S Spider

From MT at Laguna Seca:
1:34.23 Audi R8 V10
1:34.30 Camaro ZL1 1LE

You guys do an amazing job making videos that are genuinely informative to the hardcore enthusiast while still being hilarious and approachable to the average Joe. Much appreciated!

All cars have plastic whether they are soft or hard. I dont get why they are always pointing that out!

Both are awesome! I’ve driven a 2SS, A GT and now own a GT PP1. The Camaro certainly has better handling (and every time I corner hard I wish I had the Camaro). However in every other situation I prefer the mustang, it’s ride is nicer, the visibility is better, I like the look better and I like the sound better. I’d have been very happy with both but since I wanted a grand touring daily driver I think the mustang lives up to the GT name. The SS lives up to its super sport name by being dominant on the track.

Watching this 4 years later I can really tell how much Thomas has developed on camera and mic. Current videos he's much more comfortable and makes no mistakes compared to 4 years ago

I owned many Stangs over the years:
‘86 GT
‘86 LX (vert...still own)
‘87 GT
‘03 Mach 1
‘11 GT500 SVTPP (traded a ‘08 M3 on it...worst decision I ever made in cars)

I drove the ‘18 2SS 1LE and the car won me over...it’s really a great car and the 2SS has blind spot monitoring that really mitigates any visual issues while using it as a daily driver. It’s such an awesome car, I highly encourage at least a look at these special cars before you plop down your hard earn $ for some ridiculous brand loyalty...you may miss out on a great ride.

I just drove the 1LE 850 miles from North Louisiana to Florida with my 11 yr old daughter (she LOVES the car) and it did wonderful all while getting 25.4 mpg...I couldn’t be more pleased with the car.

Big Chevy fan so, of course, I'd take the Camaro. Still, I'm very impressed with the both cars.

When I was buying my Mustang last year. I test drove both cars and I have to say the Camaro was the better car. But I love the design of the Mustang and the magneride is pretty good.

After my friend was in a car accident I ended up driving his 2017 SS 1LE for about a year, absolutely phenomenal car. Loved every second of driving that thing. Fast forward a few more years and I now have a 2019 Mustang GT PP2. There's things I love about both but ultimately the attitude of the Coyote won me over. Both are fantastic platforms. Used to watch this video every few days looking forward to the day I'd own one. Great video.

Mustang looks sexy and sleek while the Camaro looks mean and agressive. I would prefer the Camaro personally but both cars are amazing.
