Eccentric French composer Erik Satie, once wrote an article giving advice to young artists about how to organize their lives:
I rise at 7:18; inspired from 10:23 to 11:47. I lunch at 12:11 and leave the table at 12:14. A salutary promenade on horseback, within the grounds of my park from 1:19 to 2:53.
Another inspiration from 3:12 to 4:07. Diverse occupations (fencing, reflection, immobility, visits, contemplation, dexterity, swimming, et cetera) from 4:21 to 6:47. I go to bed regularly at 10:37.
This like, the bizarre diet he proposed is often quoted as an example of his quirky personality - but he was a surrealist and this is a send-up of those aristocratic artistic dabblers who did have their own grounds to ride their horses in, as Satie and his circle of Bohemian creatives certainly did not.
