Nothing cooks like a wood cookstove, ever!! I really miss the one I grew up with, I'm still hit or miss with a modern electric stove

I learned how to cook and bake on a woodstove that looked like this.
I was 12.. 1976

I had to use one of these when I was a teen back in 2010... Dang I miss living in the woods. Cutting wood and collecting water was a joy. I got to go out and hunt and hike every morning.
I was probably apart of the last generation to grow up with this in there home in California.

I am so happy you showed this!!! I have one that came with the house we bought and it does have connections in the back for gas or whatever? But I was looking to see if there was any way to use it with wood. You sir, are a saint!!! We have almost identical stoves!!! Twinning and winning!

Almost every house or apt we rented when married had a woodstove.
I learned how to cook on it & it came in very handy when we lost power due to storms 😊.

We lived on our sailboat for 13 years, used an alcohol stove, tiny tiny tiny space. No hot water unless I warmed it on stove, it was a pain and tiresome after awhile, now that We are older we bought a house and I feel so blessd to have hot water on tap. ❤ but living off grid helpped us save money so we could buy a house. ❤ we are thankful to God for everything.

The 1st house I rented in VA had one of these. Good times. Definitely a skill set requirement.

We have an antique green one that I will not let my grams get rid of. I'm going to take that "junk" (beautiful antique woodstove) to my future homestead

That looks similar to the type of stove my grandma had growing up on the farm. Then again they had an out house too, eventually they got plumbing.

I used to work in a scrap yard for summer jobs when I was a kid. The amount of big old stoves that came in was insane. I had to have seen at least 20 in the years I worked there. The owner would keep em. Clean them up and sell them right out of the warehouse.

Here in finland we use similar wood stoves and use " Ferro - liesimusta" english maybe iron paste, to protect those hotplates.

We have been using our wood cook stoves for years one inside the kitchen one in a outdoor kitchen but recently got a old Wolf gas stove /range commercial model from a neighbor and it is nice to use propane to cook a few meals and bake on great for roasting turkeys and baking breads ..?
