Our civilisation is advancing at accelerating pace towards an understanding that the human condition no longer takes the physical body as given. Today, we are on an exponential trend toward artificial evolution that, compared to biological processes, is much faster. But taking this power away from nature and controlling it artificially poses certain risks such as the potential to create social divide, malicious beings, and intrusive surveillance.
Such implications of transhuman technologies are posing a significant obstacle for policymakers as there is no precedent for them in the whole of human history. Neither is there a precedent for transhumanism among religious, philosophical or cultural understandings.
To debate these questions further we are welcoming Dr Steve Fuller to Jellyfish DAO. The founder of Social Epistemology, Dr Fuller will dive deep into how enhancement changes our conception of what it means to be human.
