New lil essay on an artist that is absolutely killlllling it right now. Clairo is incredibly talented and I don't know if I've ever seen a musician that matches her level of authenticity. (P.S. my New England accent really throws that "CLAH-RO" in this video a little bit lol)

I thought she was in middle or high school. She doesn't look like a college student.

music is still music, guys. how bout we all just appreciate the music created and just set aside those "shes an industry plant" bullshit. musicians have their ways differently and at the end of the day, all musicians just want their music to be heard, appreciated, and unite people. so lets all be chill, and enjoy the music, can we?

Did you know clairo’s dad is actually an influential marketing executive who has had a direct impact on her exposure in the music industry? (He has fader connections etc.) This isn’t meant to downplay clairo’s talent in any way though. Im a big fan and I will continue to listen to her music. It just rubs me the wrong way that she isn’t actually being transparent about all the forces that got her to where she is.

I don't know how but my feed has been fed with these low subscribe count youtubers making video essays that are hundreds of times better than channels with well over a million subs. Thank you!

Clairo has big music industry links in her family she's not just some random young talent.

Vulnerability really is what gets to us. Than factor in humility, compassion, and emotional intelligence !!! Triple threat.

Hey Alfo. When I hit about 10 years old, my uncle introduced me to daft punk, and I fell in love with music. I’m 21 now, and honestly, I haven’t been scouring the internet and staying up to date with the newest music. I haven’t been listening to much at all.
Videos like this reignite the fire that is discovering new music in my heart. You are helping me rediscover a healing passion of mine in a very transformative and alien time in life. So thanks.

"Humble" beginnings. She seems great but lets be real. She couldn't have had an easier start.

I know alot of people are aggressive about this but I honestly think theres a good reason to be angry towards an artist that fakes their entire persona, music, and marketing to succeed as well as have dad pay for multiple interviews, paid press, and even paid lineup spots. Clairo is alright as a musician but to act like she isn't producing her tracks in a studio with 4 producer/writers helping her to make her, "diy indie music" is such a farce. She's just another semi-attractive rich kid with average music thats a walking marketing plan. Theres nothing "crazy" or "interesting" or "DIY" past that. that's what makes her a piece of shit to those who have had to do it all by themselves with nothing more then their own intuition, risks, and skills. She's defacing the brick building approach an acting like she's worked hard. It's utter bullshit, and i I hope her shiftiness blows up in her face.

This video works really well as an example for explaining to someone how much music effects mood...Clairo has different eras in her career that represent separate sub-genres...during the "Bedroom Pop" trend she made some of the best stuff...and it sounded so Indie, we all believed it was...

okay claire has industry connections. but if she wasn’t talented no one would’ve cared about her and she wouldn’t have become successful.

i feel like you're just in love with her bro. You probably look at Clairo and think "damn, I would love to date her" and that's ok. but i think it creates a bias when you look at her music and authenticity

love ur essays dude!! u've got great taste & interesting things to say. also maybe silly to even point out but thx for not commenting on her appearance!! there's rly so much of that still going on in the music industry (& lots of others) and im just ready for ppl to stop doing it to everyone, of whatever gender. so thx for keeping that trend going in the right direction! again maybe silly, but means a lot.

How to be famous
1)be rich
2)be attractive
3)talent? (Just hire people to make things for you)

Authentic? Lmao. Okay. If you say so. I'm not making any statements claiming to know everything, but as someone who loves her music she's pretty surface level. Authenticity is a term I'd use for BROCKHAMPTON. But at the end of the day I take a Vince Staples approach "What if it's all fake? How could you actually know?" The internet in particular has brought an age where image is so constructed that I'd argue most everyone isn't really authentic. But Clairo in particular, , she's just a girl making songs about love mostly, a concept that her teenage self explores with as much depth as Taylor Swift. Like I guess if she truly is that basic in real life, which could very well be possible, she is authentic technically but I don't get how that's so worthwhile lol. It seems the extent of her depth is how "Authentic" she is but like there's thousands of teens on YouTube recording themselves in their bedroom, I don't see how she s special really
