I'm like 97% sure CMC dealing with some kind of achilles tendinopathy. If he keeps participating in practice doing sprints, drills, or any movement putting load on the tendon he will never get better and it will linger not only through the season but the rest of his career unless he takes off. He has to gradually strengthen the tendon slowly for the pain to go away which could take weeks or even months depending on the severity of the tendinitis.
