Doesn't improve sound per-say, but it does combat corrosion, thus preventing the crackle/popping sound caused by corrosion.

Does the gauge of the speaker wire depend on my celling speakers or my AV reciever?

This was one fast forward I wish was not fast forward. Also, what if I don't have amp right now, and I want to hook up old Bose speakers to my old record player/receiver/tape player directly? Thanks for any tips.

2:13 with the Open Screw plug (your ‘cheaper set’) the better way to use them is to unscrew completely, thread the cable up the back of the hole in the screw, then gently tease apart the wire and fold it over the tip of the screw evenly all around, then screw it back on. Note: you only need enough wire to cover the tip, it shouldn’t get in the way of the screw threads. This creates a very sturdy connection, it’s fast to do and doesn’t require tools.

I think the reason you're not real thrilled about the "cheaper pair" you're working with is because you've got them connected incorrectly. If you notice, there's an unthreaded "collar" on the base before you get to the threads. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to insert the wire through the bottom and then fan out the bare internal threads of the speaker wire over the collar of the base. Once fanned around the collar you then screw the base into the top pin and the fanned threads are pinched in between. No bare exposed threads sticking out. Give it a go...

Thanks for the video. cleared up how to go about these. real easy actually. pretty cool. These speakers have 4 Female inputs in a square formation and there's plates that connect them. Sorta yeah these would be preferable especially the pricier one's for the sake of keeping everything safe ensuring a connection. Figure out what to use for a rubber casing or cheap out use electrical tape haha

I like this video. Clear and simple, thanks. but how do I plug the "banana plug" into the spring plug (old school speaker)?

Quality vintage gear uses spring plugs, 5 ways didn't exist back in the 70s but the old high end gear is I dare than new stuff a lot of times. Thanks for the video though and maybe don't fast forward through the actual work. I bet a lot of folks would like to see how it's done.
