// SUMMARY //

The residents of Solothurn, Switzerland are crazy about the number 11 — and here’s why! (Trust us! It’s one of the most unique places to visit in Switzerland!)

-In the Swiss Confederation, Solothurn canton is listed as the 11th canton of Switzerland. (If you’re curious about the history of Switzerland, this would be a good place to start!)
-The clock of Solothurn runs on Switzerland time! It only has 11 numbers and it uses 11 bells to chime the Solothurn song at 11 o’clock.
-There are 11 churches, cathedrals, and chapels in Solothurn. There used to be 11 chaplains as well. (Tip: St. Ursus Cathedral is the most 11-ish!)
-If you find museums interesting, Solothurn has 11 of them.
-This Swiss village has 11 fountains as well.
-Don’t miss the 11 towers, 11 gates, and 11 bastions of this walled city. Some of them have great views of the Aare River too! (Don't know what a bastion is? Neither did we! Find out what it looks like in our video!)
-Try the Öufi beer. Öufi means "11" in their local dialect.

If you’re looking for places to visit in Switzerland (or want to wow your friends with quirky facts about Switzerland), Solothurn is a great Swiss destination!

Love the quirky humor and that you show the subject instead having the camera on your faces the whole time like SO many travel vloggers do! TY

I really like your choices of destination. You seem very curious and seem to like discovering things that average tourists would simply ignore.

I remember going to Soleure/Solothurn with my family when I was 9 and my brother, well, 11, and there was a huge event in the city. Children that were 11 received gifts, discounts, free stuff, etc.
I was kinda jealous that we were going to an event where my brother only was celebrated 😅

Amazing video, I've subscribed!
The fun thing is that the other big city in the province of Solothurn, Olten, has a nickname: Ol10.
And it is also known that people from these two cities don't particularly like each other.
Probably because they're both weirdos and obsessed with numbers 😉

The hotel had in its history multiple visitors from high society. The best known was Napoleon who was already angry from other incidents and feared an assassination attempt. Instead of the prepared meal he only drank a glass of water and did not pay for all the services that the hotel prepared. The original receipt for it is afaik still displayed in the entrance. IIRC with the after a renovation and the reopening in 2017 the french embassy payed this now symbolic debt.
