Mike, thanks for sharing your workshop makeover, well done, it looks like you are happy with the result. My workshop is similar to your old setup with a bench behind my lathe, it gets covered with shavings all mixed up amongst my chisels. I don't mind cleaning up afterward but your idea of a plastic sheet is a good one and I will try it.

Regards
Stephen

Use of the plastic sheeting works well, I've been using that method to keep the dust and shavings off my workbench and tools for the past 5 years .It also allows easy access to tools etc. well done Mike.

Hello Mike, Please don't put yourself under pressure to put out a turning video. We know you have your regular job to look after and you've made such a contribution to woodturning down through the years and from which I've benefited greatly.
Coincidentally, I use large sheets of clear polythene draped over my tools and other places and held in place with clamps. The shavings, some of which are more than 6 feet long, just roll down to the floor and five minutes with a brush and shovel clean up the place. On really busy days I have to bring in a JCB to remove them.
Hope to meet you at Makers' Central next year.
Best....
Alan.

Shower curtain? What a great idea! Might have to look into that. Thanks for the suggestion, Mike. Always happy to let someone else do the thinking. Just gives me a headache! ;-)
Take care,

I had a couple of suggestions to improve your shop set-up, but I think after you do some turning you will see what works and what doesn't. That is the time to make any changes if needed. What ever works best for you is the right choice. Looking forward to your next project video Mike.

Keep you eyes open and see if you can find a couple of projector screens, the kind that work on a spring where you pull them down and let them up. Maybe some old school maps would work.
Thanks for your work.
