This sounds like a JoJo OP

Think about it, A Joestar that grew up essentially a villain but a drastic event changed his world view (Maybe the loss of a friend or significant other) and he's trying to change but his crime ridden side keeps interfering with his normal life. Eventually he goes back down that road again but before he could fully return he runs into a girl who somehow keeps him in check. Then it spirals out of control one day when she's kidnapped by the "true villain", this Joestar could be a great Anti-Hero if it were pulled off correctly.
