Really cool over arching concept for these. Itd fit into the whole rival trope that the games already have. And it'd be interesting if, depending on what starter you picked, the games story changed accordingly. Replayability hasnt really been an issue for pokemon, and honestly works against its standard routine of "catch everything, beat everyone" but itd be an interesting concept to play as the villain for once in a main game.

Signature moves:

Cobantid: pop off. The user attacks with a rain of explosive corn that leaves behind kernals that damage the opposing team for 3 turns

Cyptoad: burning bind. The user raps the target in a metallic tongue before rapidly heating it up to burn them.This lowers the target's speed and may leave them with a burn.

Maestrat: sewer splashdown. The user swamps the area in noxious sewer water. This may badly poison the target.

As an Ohioan, I was expecting a raccoon and opossum Pokémon, lol. Heck, even our state bird would make sense - the cardinal. I guess the grasshopper/corn Pokémon is good, though, lol.

Honestly, I imagine each starter picks to play into that symbolism: When you pick the hero, the rival picks the villain, meaning you fight the villain. When you pick the villain, you fight the fatale, meaning you capture the damsel in distress. When you pick the fatale, the rival picks the hero, meaning you try to deceive or mislead the hero.
